Chase Elliott has to miss the next race at Las Vegas because he was injured while snowboarding. Interestingly, it's only called a "leg injury" but he had surgery on it. This sounds pretty serious. Damned serious.

I am only interested in this guy because he is the son of one of my favorite drivers of all time. Gosh, I sound like a June Bug fan.

Today's race at Kansas had an interesting ending, even though the person I wanted to win, didn't. It also had a punch thrown and connected after it was over.

The series has switched over to NBC, and this means it's the June Bug and Jeff Burton show. I've missed those guys.

I might be interested in checking out this weekend's race since it's the tricked up Chicago road course. I still don't understand why they moved the 2nd Daytona race out of the first weekend in July.

I mostly avoid NASCAR these days, but the 4th of July race used to be an appointment for me because it was Daytona. I decided to check today to see what their plan is and they are bookending the holiday with Nashville and the Chicago. Spares ahoy. I predicted last year that the Chicago road course would at least have nice scenery and it ended up starting under monsoon conditions and finished with a wet track under cloud cover.

I enjoyed Kevin Harvick in the booth with Bowyer in a few races on Fox this year. I know the convelescing Hoob will hate this, but I've started watching F1 when it's on early on Sundays. The tracks usually look cool and they have charming foreign announcers. Their pre-race is fun to watch and, while it has some hamfisted talking heads, there are no Waltrip brothers to spare me into a coma.

I just noticed that Hooters couldn't pay their sponsorship for Chase Elliott's car, so the team pulled their stickers off immediately and they are done with them. Sign of the times.

Austin Dillon punted two drivers on the final turn on Sunday at Richmond and won the race, which means that he qualified for the playoffs. To me, the most impressive thing is he was able to have good enough aim to knock them both out of the way. He's that bad of a driver.

Surprisingly, NASCAR punished his dumb ass for doing that. He keeps the win but he doesn't get a playoff spot.
