Maybe I'll understand you old's sense of loss when Nancy Cartwright kicks it.

Happy Trails Adam Cartwright

Most of you will remember him as Trapper John, MD, but I'm old enough to remember watching Bonanza sitting in front of the TV Sunday nights wearing pajamas, cap guns and a cowboy hat....... (Something that Mrs. Ich and I still practice once a month)

Trapper John, M.D. was the most unstable spin off ever. The only thing they used was the character's name. The actors, setting, date, and style of show was completely different.

NFL Pro and CBS Broadcaster Tom Brookshier Dead at 78

Before John Madden, there was Tom Brookshier. Tom And Pat Summerall were THE broadcasting team for football back in the 70s. Great chemistry.

Hoob and Ray will remember that before cable and ESPN, we got up on Sunday mornings to watch Tom and Pat host This Week in the NFL. Tom and Pat would introduce the highlights of the previous week's games and the great Ed Sabol (Father of Steve) would provide the voice overs.

Greatness.

My HSO on Brookshier:

CBS game broadcasts were MUCH better with Summerall and Brookshier doing the lead game instead of Summerall and Madden. It wasn't close, and I always disagreed with the network's decision.

I don't remember the exact circumstanes, but CBS broke up the team after Brookshier stomped on his own foreskin by commenting as to the intelligence of a particular college team. I know Summerall tried to get him to retract it right after he said it, but Brookshier just reinforced his comments.

Probably everyone got a little worried when he claimed he was 3rd in command behind the VP instead of the Speaker of the House. Not to mention there was no need to transfer power at that time as the seriousness of Regan's injuries were unknown. Instead of calming down the nation, he pretty much got everyone riled up since it was obvious no one knew what the fuck they were supposed to be doing.

I read a quote by him from an interview in 2002 or so, and his explanation (which makes perfect sense to me) was to reassure the public that things were being run fine, and that the Executive branch was still running things.
Given how retarded the American public more often than not is, I'm not sure I see anything wrong with that.

That's what I was thinking. This is kinda like the Democrat version of twisting and laughing at something Al Gore said.

Great analogy, and yes, that's about it. Haig was not trying to take control, or anything like that. All things given, he kinda got smeared.

There's a big difference between reassuring the public that someone is at the helm and placing yourself as 2nd in the line of succession. I never thought what he did was all that bad.

He said himself his intention was just to reassure the public. Ok, he sounded like a dumbass. He admitted himself he knew the line of succession.
And even if he didn't, it wasn't like some "Seven Days in May" shit.
