That and Robots were the two biggest omissions. They could have easily fit those two in there and cut that country song down by about 5 minutes.

Stayed up last night painting the nursery. All I have left is touch-ups and new carpet. Thankfully the baby didn't arrive early. Mothers Day was a success.

On Tuesday I had to bury my childhood best friend and his 10yr old son. He was responsible for getting me involved in church and his family had a tremendous impact on mine growing up so yeah I guess you could say he kind of helped shape the person I am today. I know we have a lot of guys here with different beliefs and I don't want to get all preachy but you never know when it's your time to make sure that are right with ever deity or non-deity you choose to believe in. If nothing else, make sure you family knows you love them.

Let me start by saying that I don't know the first thing about AC units so when the air coming out of vents was not exactly cold, I thought I just need to tap the unit with a wrench or something and it would be cold again. Turns out that doesn't do the trick. So I figured maybe it was freezing up so I thought shutting it down for an hour or so might get it working again but as luck would have it, that didn't quite do the trick either. So I googled "AC repair in Plano" and it get tons of hits. I click on a sponsored link and called the company up. They said they could be out right away but I asked if they could hold off cuz I needed to get 18 in. So I hook up with them at 4:30 and the tech tells me my compressor is bad. I was like, ok so fix it. He was like, it ain't that easy. I was like, then I'll call someone for who it would be easy. He said if I could find someone who could fix it he would pay for it. You just don't "fix" compressors apparently. So 2 hours later and $3500 lighter in the wallet, I'm the new proud owner of a Carrier Heat Pump. Luckily it was cool last night so we didn't have to suffer too much. Thank goodness we caught this now before the heat wave comes.

Seems like $3500 is kinda high, but I never bought a heat pump.

It's funny how a/c units are supposedly more efficient than they were a few years ago, but electric bills aren't going down a damn bit.

"more efficient" = "less power" = "has to run longer"

Yes. Compressors can be replaced, but not repaired. That's what I've always heard. And you're still a dumas.

I spoke to a couple of companies and they said the price for a new compressor with installation on a system that is already 10 years old was not the best idea. It would cost about 2/3 the price of a whole new system and so I went with the new system. Alls I know is my balls are cold.

Makes sense, but if 2/3 of the cost equates to $500, or even $750, how did this guy arrive at a cost of $3,500? Have compressors gone up that much since I replaced mine four years ago? :dunno:
I assumed that he had to replace the outside and inside units.

Star date 3:45am: My cable just went out for no reason and yet I can sit here and post. I sat on hold for 20 minutes only for them to tell me they have to send someone out.

I haven't figured out how that works yet. I've had my cable go out but still had innerweb, and have had the internetz disolve but still had cable. weird shit, man.

For those wanting to update their Facebook, here is an update.

I went and dookied around 4am and read some golf digest and when I got back to the bedroom I tried the TV and it worked. I was so excited that I turned on Sportscenter and fell asleep like in 2 minutes.

Just closed my biggest deal of my career: 5yr contract worth $8m. First POs just came over the fax. In an ever-changing economic climate, I consider myself lucky. Here's hoping the contract works out smoothly.

Well guess what. Our dryer went out last night. Looks like I'm going to Home Depot to get a new one.

BTW, Fruit is shaving strokes off of his game real quick like. Watch out for him and watch for the Desparados.

Is the dryer totally not working (not coming on) or is it running, but not heating? If it's the latter, it's most likely a broken heating coil that can be easily replaced...

Or the thermostat. Just had to replace mine, now my clothes come out of the dryer at a nice temperature of hell.

He has the opposite of a problem, he made over 550 K last year. You think he is going to repair a dryer? Pfft! He hasn't had a carb since 2004!
