First shot done. Super simple process. Took about 10 minutes from the moment I arrived at the site until I got the shot. Feeling fine, but I hear the 2nd one is the asskicker.

Man, I want a vaccine. I should have signed up in more counties.

Try some of the pharmacies like Wal Mart or CVS. I'm having to drive across town, but that's how I got an appointment.

I guess I got lucky. I signed up with two sites a week ago and one responded the next day with openings. I responded to their email immediately and got an appointment a few minutes later.

I got on a list at the county I work in. The way they do it, I might hear from them tomorrow.

My landlords drove to the Panhandle on Saturday for theirs. It was at a CVS. My neighbor drove to Lubbock last week for hers. All will have to go back again for round two.

Where else do you sign up besides your county?

Your county should have several substations you can get enrolled at. Collin County closed off their signups before I got around to them, but I signed up with UT Southwestern and the Allen Fire Dept. Friends of mine got into UTSW really quick. Allen opened up for me first. McKinney has a place in Collin and I think there are a few others.

Google your county and Covid and you should find what you need.

I registered with Tarrant County and so far they've just sent me 3 text messages asking if I really wanted the vaccine (press 1) or would I like to cancel (press 2). Odd.

I'm on the list for Thursday! However, I just read the vaccine may make me sterile? What do I tell my future young wife?

Got my 1st Moderna shot yesterday in south fote wofe. Arm's a little sore today and I'm running a low-grade fever.

Worked today and noticed I was getting chills during the morning. I figured this was some sort of fever situation but decided to tough it out. After lunch I felt normal.

My arm even quit hurting for the most part. I am an oddball.

The ex got her first this afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway. She is anti- flu shot so it surprises me that she took this step. But I am glad she did.

I feeling better now. The ebb and flow of the chills lasted about 6 hours. This morning I woke up and felt like I was getting over a cold. Hopefully the worst has passed. In less than 2 weeks, the vaccine takes full effect and I'll be immortal.

I had my second shot last week. Overnight I woke up in a cold sweat, chills, feverish, etc. In the morning I was running a temp over 100 and felt like shit. The COVID cough was back and I couldn't even muster enough energy to stand up straight. I have way too much going on at work so I toughed it out thinking I would get better during the day. I did not. My whole body ached and I had less than Jeb Bush energy level. I looked and felt like a zombie. After a 12 hour work day I went home, took 2 Tylenol PMs and crashed. The next morning my arm was still a bit sore but all of the other symptoms were gone.

And now I hear there's a new strain from Brazil that's resistant to the vaccine. Fuck you, Brazil.

I noticed that the vaccination place wasn't nearly as busy as it was for round one.

Several of my co-workers aren't going to get the shot. I don't have a big problem with that, but I'm glad I did it.

Went back into the office today for the first time in 15 months. Felt like the first day at a new job except I already know everyone. It was pretty quiet. Actually got more done than I usually do at home, but don't tell my boss that. Will return tomorrow, and every Thursday and Friday until further notice.

I am envious of people who can get anything done from home. I am not one of those people.

We got a new guy starting on Monday. I might start sleeping again.

They're letting us work from home full-time until Oct 1 if we want to. I want to. No Thursdays or Fridays in the office for me for the next two months. I do have half a box of fig bars in my desk drawer that I should probably go get, so I may be in the office this week for however long it takes to retrieve a box of fig bars. Yes, they're blueberry.

We got lucky and got our shots super early. The former health teacher/nurse at my wife's school (who, despite being an Obama-birther, quit because of COVID) called on December 26 to tell us that Tarrant County had opened their website. It asked nothing about high risk conditions or front line jobs and we both got automated calls within the hour to tell us to come in at 10:00am the next day. We were out before 11:00. My wife's parents got theirs the next day but had to wait in line for 3 hours. Two friends got appointments for the same day as the in-laws but were turned away at the door for not being high-risk or front-line.

Got our second shots on January 25 and fully vaxxed by the first week of February. Texas not having it's shit together paid off for us. Hopefully our luck will continue when we need a booster soon.

Most of the rest of my family is unvaccinated. My kids have not vaccinated the grands for anything. Idiots.

I have been working from home since this shit started, got told recently that they are not expecting me back in the office, like ever. I love it. But I don't see many real people. The office coffee is much better.

My house has become Rona central. The 6 year old got it, followed by the wife, now me. The 3 year old has avoided it. None of us have gotten sick (wife and I are vaxxed) aside from mild aches and coughs, but it's made a mess out of work/school. Grandparents are near by and have taken the girls (after the 6 year old got clear) but just the logistics of it all is a nightmare.

Well, the 3-year-old tested positive yesterday. She ran a fever and was felling awful yesterday but thankfully seems better today. So me and her get to spend the next week or so at home together. Meanwhile I have to keep my classes running without being there, and I can't use Zoom. Good times.

D, what's your policy as far as time off for something like this? If you can't work remotely because our asshole governor says no, I hope you're at least still getting paid.

I'm getting paid. Another issue is we don't have hardly any subs. It's a smallish district so we don't have the fancy call-in system the big districts have. So while I'm out, some other teacher's class size doubles. Smart during a pandemic. And I can really only post videos, pdfs, and assignments. Considering the sham of an education kids got last year, they're already way behind. I'm supposed to teach Trigonometry to kids who don't understand basic Algebra.

We've already had 10 times as many cases this year as we did this time last year. And we haven't seen the effects of the pep rallies we've had yet either.

We've actually received emails from Wylie ISD looking for subs. I don't know what qualifications you need, but it sounds like they'll take any warm body that has the time and can pass a background check.

Got my booster yesterday at local CVS. I am now a vax-mulatto as my original shots were Dolly Parton's Moderna but my booster is the Viagra-Pfizer. No side effects yet except for a slight hunger for human flesh.

I got boostered last Monday and started feeling like crap on Saturday morning. Waited at home all damn day for a call back to an urgent care and felt worse by the hour. Finally got in and tested positive for the 'rona. Yesterday was pretty crappy right up until bed time. Another week in the house doing nothing is probably going to kill me.

It sounds more and more like the vaccine does fuck all to prevent getting the mutated strains of muh-muh-muh-muh-muh my corona, especially the omnicron variant. I hope the experts are right that it at least makes the symptoms less severe.
