I'm no insurance guru but I was under the impressions MRIs fell under the deductible thing and therefore wasn't covered unless you have met it.

With insurance I still had to pay $700+ for an MRI.

I don't know why, but this made me giggle uncontrollably.

I have middle of the road teacher's insurance and my wife is on it. She didn't have to pay anything until the surgery when she tore her miniscus while running.

However, it only paid for half of each therapy session, so it was something like $75 out of pocket each time and that shit was expensive after awhile.

Oh, and the doctor recommends not running since it's so hard on the joints. That's for everyone, even if you're in shape. It's the best thing for your heart, but not worth the damage it'll do to your joints. He recommends treadmills, ellipticals, stair machines, etc., but no bikes. He said those are for fags.

Finally got the results of my MRI and it's not a meniscus tear after all. It's avascular necrosis which is another term for bone death. Basically, the inner bottom bone nub on my left femur is in bad shape. Rest usually restores it, so when I go anywhere for the next month, I get to use crutches. Bright side is no surgery needed. Yet, at least.

It's been 5 days since I found out what ails meh, and I've done a lot of sitting on my ass, moreso than usual. My leg feels damn near back to normal. I'm sure if I went running on it, it'd mess it up good, but I can walk about without a problem. I'm not really using the crutches unless I have a long way to walk. They're a pain in the ass so I'd rather not bother. I'll likely take them to work tomorrow and crutch into the building, but otherwise walk around normally.

Get a mountain bike. Takes all the pressure off your joints. Buy padded shorts though.

Stepped on the scale this morning. Was at my goal. Back to 45lbs lost. Had a huge burger for lunch.

Returned to the doctor for a followup today and my shit is nearly fixed. The bone is just about back to normal. He wants me to start strengthening it by biking or swimming. I can start using an elliptical in 2 weeks and start running in 2 months. No surgery needed.

Been working out 3 times a week on an elliptical. I've decided I'm not gonna bother with running unless I somehow get down to college weight because I don't wanna risk another injury. Anyway, after plateauing on the weight loss, I've finally broken through and have officially dropped 25 pounds. I'm not Diello sexy, but I'm getting there. I'm about 15 away from that time during forum year 3 when somey told me I looked really good. So there's my motivation for the next goal.

Last week I was next to this big black dude who decided to let fly the most foul, roasted-ogre meat fart while I was in the middle of my cool down. He bailed pretty quick but I had to pretend I didn't notice while trying not to gag.

The workout room is no place to let fly. 300% humidity guarantees whatever comes out of your ass will smell 3 times as bad and hang around 10 times as long. Tit you should have left when the guilty dude did because anyone else that walked in your general area for the next 15 minutes would have assumed it was you.

In full disclosure, I did the exact same thing to a older lady during the previous workout. She kept looking over at me. I sweatily stifled my giggles.

Stepped on the scale this morning and it said I'm down to 215. This can mean only one thing: the scale is broken.
