Walt's tourette's-fueled posting fever actually birthed a good idea for a thread. Take it away, fat fuck comic dorks!

I though we already had a thread like this.

I've got some 20+ year old x-men and iron man comics. Are they worth anything?

Nothing from the 70s or 80s is worth much with a few rare exceptions and they'd have to be in perfect shape.

There's a dork show in Richardson tomorrow. I'm dressing up as the Kingpin.

I've gotten into comics the past year or so but I have no use for anything featuring a dude in a colorful spandex leotard. I like the stuff with lots of blood and fucking.

I'm interested in the Walking Dead show and will be setting the DVR accordingly. I wasn't blown away by the book as it didn't strike me as any different from the gabillion other zombie apocalypse stories.

That being said, i hope this starts a trend of thinking about TV as a place to bring these stories. There is talk of making a Y:the Last Man movie with Shia LeBouf. But it should be an HBO/Showtime/AMC/FX series. The stories are serialized to begin with, complete with 6-8 story lines that would require no rewriting. There's potentially more money in a TV series anyway.

I've read all of the Walking Dead, and I gotta admit they need more zombies. But I loves me some post-apocalyptic fiction, so I've hung on all throughout it.

Y would be awesome, but I agree that TV is the way to go instead of movies. The talk for the movie was a trilogy to tell the complete story. I still think they'd cut too many corners and leave some good stuff out. Plus they'd have the chance to build an audience rather than have the thing flop because no one showed up the first weekend.

I don't know how you'd do with Fables but it's a personal favorite. I lean towards the "clever" things like that. ABC has the rights to it right now and seems to be leaning towards a show, which is good. But I still feel the cable networks can do things that the regular ones can't or won't. And the budget in a few of the story arcs would be pretty high.

I've read about the first dozen or so issues of those. I like 'em I just haven't got to the rest yet. I have the entire series plus all of Jack of Fables on my hard drive here, it's just a matter of burning through them all. I keep getting distracted by others. I read a little of The Invisibles but it was taking too long to get anywhere. Chew is somewhat intriguing. I'm working thru that right now. Oh, and The Dark Tower. I've become quite the nerd in the past year.

I just found a kick ass db application, you hold up the barcode (TPB haven't tried it with single issues)and it grabs all the book's info and then you can export to excel or sell it on Amazon. So I was randomly scanning stuff and I notice that it also has a current list price. Majority of the books aren't worth anything but one was worth $35.00 so I threw it on Amazon and just now got a note that I sold it. Pretty Cool. If I had tried to sell it at the comic book story I would be lucky to get $10.
