Saw Yo La Tengo at the Grenada on Saturday night. They're a band I like a lot and I have nearly all their albums, but this is the first time I've ever gotten off my ass to see them live. They were fantastic. Ira Kaplan rocks pretty hard for a 56-year-old Jew. I don't know if he's a great technical guitar player, but he can make all sorts of crazy noise with that thing and he's completely in control of it at all times. They didn't play "Sugarcube" much to the chagrin of the screaming young drunks next to us who kept shouting for it all night.

Concerts in theory are awesome and used to be one of my favorite things to do but all those late nite shenanigans and hullabaloo is more than I can fight thru anymore. we most recently felt pretty cool about ourselves for attending the Paste magazine beer/music fest a couple weeks ago in FW. It was during the day and the weather was perfectamundo and the beer flowed like wine and I was having a swell time aside from feeling insecure for my collared and striped shirt selection I had chosen to wear and had tucked in. Once the suds kicked in and i got buzzed and had to break the seal and stand in line forever at a port o potty the suckiness started to factor in. Post pee, the lines at the food trucks were even longer and i started to have disdain for all the rigamarole of overly tatted people around me. It was like 8:50 at this point. I yawned. Some chick in front of me said "smile". My wife asked if I wanted to bail and get some Fireside Pies. I was all about it.
I'll tell you one more rootin tootin thing tho,if any of those confounded young bucks had tried to tell me to smile again on the way out or given off some goush darn pissy ass punk attitudes cuz they were hopped up on their psychedelic head banging music, i'dve given each and every one of them a knuckle fuckin' sandwich.

Mrs Tit has lamented the fact that I don't like to go to shows anymore. Sorry, but I'm old and out of place at this point in my life. I also don't like standing all night. I'm dreading the eventual arrival of The Flaming Lips in town because she'll demand we go and I just can't get excited about seeing them anymore. But I'll go because I'd like to have sex again.

Also, they've demolished the Snuffer's right next to the Grenada. It was weird leaving and not seeing it there. Apparently, some people believed it was haunted, so take that evil spirits!
