I just picked up riding a few weeks ago. Took my first trip around White Rock Lake, which was the longest distance I had ever ridden all at once. I'll do it a couple more times then try for the longer route.

Wasn't too bad but I did get a new appreciation for what kind of dedication it takes to ride every day.

After mowing the yard in this heat, I thought it would be a good idea to go for a bike ride. What a dummy. Went 22 miles on the trail. Because I rubbed a blister on my heel while mowing, I had to wear running shoes instead of bike shoes and this caused me to have to work a lot harder than usual.

I've always thought that my bike odometer was calibrated wrong. Discovered today that it was actually pretty close to correct.

Only saw one varmint today, a snake. Also saw about a dozen bikers and eight walkers/runners. Almost everyone was really friendly. If they're going to be that friendly all the time, I'm going to start bringing condoms.

The Holy Trinity isn't hard to explain. It's part of a fairy tale, akin to Snow White, Cinderella and Fiona.

that's what the frogs call it. I think veeb is right though, emeril subs bell peppers for carrots in his cajun cuisine.

carrots are grody, imo. I love onions and always wondered if you could really bite into one of those sweet onions like an apple and not flip out. I once took a girl out to eat and as we were looking over the menu I said something about onions and she was like "ewww gross" and I knew right then I didn't want to be with her but I didn't tell her until later on after she gave me a bj.

Now that's why this board is the best ever. A serious as heck discussion just got turned into something funny.

Went out to Bonham State Park this afternoon, rode around in this heat on their trails which are medium difficulty at the most. Brought some trimmers with me, didn't need 'em. Somebody had cleaned up almost all of the vines and limbs that terrorized me a couple of weeks ago. Went approximately 10 miles, rode all of the trails.

It's been awhile since I've had a day this good.

Went to the Greenbelt, 22 miles on Sunday morning. Really enjoyed myself.

Encountered a fat guy who had a flat about 3 miles from the parking lot, was walking it in. Made me think about the same thing possibly happening to me.

22 more miles. Saw one snake, one field rat, about 10,000 grasshoppers. I've lost 3 pounds this week.

My goal this week is to ride every day.

Made the long drive to Bonham State Park, decided to wear pedal clips since the trail doesn't have many climbs. Really had a good and easy ride, so good that I decided to go the entire course again. The heat wasn't a factor at all. I really love this trail.

However, something I ate made me ill and I almost didn't made it to the restroom. So disappointing. I showered and left.

When I got my bike off the car rack, I noticed that I had a flat tire. This may thwart my goal of riding every day this week.

For my road bike, yep. Thanks to you for that recommendation. Haven't had a flat since.

Not on my trusty mountaineer bikey, though. I've run into two different people who've had flats on various trails. One was a long haul from his car. Maybe that's a hint that I should do something with that bike, too.

I've gotta tell you. All sorts of things were running through my mind as I was hitting all sorts of bumps and at the same time, trying to avoid living out one of Elmer Wayne's doodoo stories.

Would I admit it to anyone? What would I do with my clothes? If my wife had found out, she would have reminded me of it every day for the rest of our lives.

Patched my tire last night, it was still up this morning. Went to the shop and bought 2 new tires and all sorts of other tire stuff.

After swearing that I'd never ride the Lake Ray Roberts DORBA trails again, I rode some of them today. I didn't wreck, and I didn't break anything on the bike. I still have a scar on my knee from my misadventures there last November.

There are a huge number of dangerous rocks on loop C, which is considered an intermediate course. I don't like riding to survive, and this ride was not any fun.

Went on the 22 mile Greenbelt today, encountered some mud, got dirty. Also had my first wreck on this easy trail after riding it 60+ times.

Some workmen were goofing around with a pipeline that cuts across the trail. I encountered a 12" pipe that they had laid out on the trail. I decided to just go around it, riding in the pasture. However, I didn't think about the possibility that this pipe was there because they had dug it up, and I crashed into the white rock when I went across the trench that was there. I skinned my left elbow and shin, and my arm hurts.

Enraged, I jumped up and yelled out, "You stupid motherfuckers!" and then I noticed three burly guys staring at me from about 15 yards away. I then yelled, "I guess you stupid motherfuckers think this is funny!" They never said a word. I mounted the bike and rode off. I had to wash off the mud and blood in the nasty park restroom before I got in the car.

I'm going to have to wait a few days before I ride that trail again. Hopefully those guys will be gone.

Probably something along the lines of "el gringo estupido tonto" was muttered after you left.

My favorite trails all got rain in the past day, so I dusted off the road bike this evening. Got a lot of looks from various people who wondered why some fool was out riding in this heat. Actually, road riding is easier in the heat than trail riding because the wind cools me off.

Rode to Aubrey, a 22.4 mile trip. Didn't wreck. My knee has problems, but it doesn't affect bicycle riding. I am happy.

30 miles. Went to the dirty south today on 377.

I wish there was a way I could send a street sweeper out there.

Texas sunshine. Fun.

Haven't ridden in two weeks, rode an hour on the trainer today. The bad part about that thing is, there is no coasting like in real life. You quit pedaling, it stops almost immediately.

Before I did this, I made the mistake of going to Bluebonnet Bicycles in Lewisville, encountered the smarmiest douchebag of an employee I've ever encountered in my 49 years of shopping. I was glad my wife wasn't with me, she probably would have picked up something and beat the crap out of that guy. He was worse than any fast food employee I've ever seen, worse than any snotty convenience store clerk ever. Another customer was there and he hauled ass to get away from it.

All I did was ask for a set of liners for my bike tires. (I have some, but I want thinner ones.) That's all I did. I didn't have a bad attitude at all, I just asked a question.

So eff Bluebonnet Bicycles in Lewisville until the sun goes down. I hope your business fails. You can take your smug attitude and shove it up your ass. I went online and ordered some liners, they'll be here on Wednesday. That's money you'll never get, douchebags.

What a coincidence.... This morning, for the first time in a week, I rode Mrs. Ich!

'Fraid you are right.

Went 12 miles today. Had no problem at all EXCEPT I got hungry toward the end and was about out of gas. I should know better than that.
