Saw it last night and wasn't sure if it was any better than Pandora. I didn't look to much into it but the ratings weren't that great.

While much of what passes for contemporary country music in the '90s and 2000s sounds like reheated Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd, what's really annoying is what a youth-driven market it has become, leaving many great country performers of the '60s and '70s out in the cold. This is especially irritating when considering the career of Gary Stewart, one of the greatest of the hardcore-honky tonk school who, at his peak in the mid- to late '70s, could write and sing circles around just about any contemporary country star you could mention. A native of Florida, Stewart escaped a lifetime of working in an airplane factory in the late '60s by pitching some songs he'd written to soon-to-be RCA country label honcho Jerry Bradley. At the time, Stewart (who was composing with his friend Bill Eldridge) didn't aspire to more than being an in-demand Nashville songwriter, but after a couple of years writing with some success, and through Bradley's continued intercession, he was given the opportunity to record on his own. With his huge, vibrato-laden tenor voice (which sounds a bit like Jerry Lee Lewis'), Stewart, with the inestimable help of songwriter Wayne Carson, released 1975's Out of Hand, one of the finest honky tonk records of all time. Paced by the hit "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles)," Gary Stewart was quickly becoming a country music star.

I've decided Spotify is pretty awesome. Haven't upgraded to a pay plan yet but it's probably worth it. Spotify = game changer.

Tell me again exactly what it is? Does it work over 3G or do you have to be in a wifi? Was that even a salient question? My google is down so someone please tell this caveman why I need it.

Basically, it's all your music accessible from one location. You don't have to have it loaded onto any device. Looks kinda like iTunes, but you don't need the presence of an mp3 player or hard drive to access the files off of. There's a free version that you can use where you got internet. There's also a pay version you can use from your phone. The biggest package ($9.99/mo) lets you access everything offline.

There's probably more cool features that someone else can explain.

I didn't know about listening to my collection. Do I have to upload it or something?

The part I know about is there is a shitload of music online (like Pandora) but you can tell it exactly what you want to hear, instead of only "suggestions". The content is limited (no beatles, no pink floyd for example). Most of the new stuff is there I think.

I had it look at my collection in iTunes and it made a list of all tracks and artists I have. Like you said, not everything is available, but most of it is. And now I don't have to use a shitload of memory to store all my files.

I guess I'm not the target audience for this then and here's why: (this goes for satellite radio as well)

The limited time I'm in the car I'm either on the phone listening to the ticket. And even I get tired of the same sports arguments so I'll spin the dial and listen to other stations or I'll flip over to my discman and listen to a few tunes. Let's pretend you hate the ticket and you must have you ears listening to music as much as possible because the songs that you like that you have heard a million times need to be heard by you as much as possible because it is so pleasing to your ears that you must hear it. (not sure why I turned into the black Cowboy computer)

So of all the free radio stations and ipod/walkman type devices that allow you to bring your entire library with you where ever you go, not to mention satellite radio which I thought was supposed to give you the music you wanted (Roosters) without all of the annoying ads, that's not enough and you need yet another music source? I guess if it's free then who cares but anyone you needs this has no kids, no hobbies, doesn't watch sports, or way too much time on their hands.

I'm not a against music. I like a Belieber just like the next guy but I guess I don't need tunes flowing through my ears non-stop. Heck, I almost prefer some peace and quiet once in a while after my ears are drilled by wives, customers, people all day.

Spotify does seem like it's pretty awesome. I wish I had the time to, I don't know, listen to 1001 albums. Can't do it at work and when I get home, I'd rather watch TV.
