Crazy how Emeril just dropped off the face of television. The only thing I've seen him on lately are some pots at BB&B and some "green" cooking show on HGTV (I think that's the channel).

Wiki says his name generates $150 mil annually which make this deal even more puzzling.

That's understandable, esp since Rachael Ray and Bobby (both much younger) were starting to really take off at that time. That still doesn't explain why he sold out for only $50 mil when his name generates 3 times that every year.

Old man says his Prius wouldn't stop, Toyota tests his car and cries "Bullsh."

I gotta feeling not all of these claims are on the up and up. The gas pedals may very well be getting stuck, but when you press on the brake that will stop the car, EVERY TIME. I think in a lot of these instances the people panic when the accelerator gets stuck.

It's got a mini hdmi port, so you'll need an adapter to plug it up to the tv (most likely comes with). I can't believe it shoots 720p vid though... THAT is quite a feat. And I was impressed with my Pre's 420p video!

Basically, Fox wouldn't put out. Their entertainment division wanted it badly, but the higher ups wouldn't shell out what he wanted. Financially, they wouldn't throw 8-digit money at something they weren't sure about (look at his past ratings, Tonight Show was bad and he was getting beaten by Craig Ferguson for the last year or so). And they couldn't assure affiliate cooperation. Reruns are a cheap profit machine for affiliates during late night. They weren't ready to give that up.

TBS gave him all those things plus ownership of the show which means even more money. Even if it's not as big for them as it would be for Fox, it will bring in the young audience. His lead-in on Fox would've been local news. Now it will be Family Guy and the Office.
