Sad Hill Unearthed -- 2017 -- Documentary -- Netflix
Sad Hill was the cemetery from the finale of "The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly" which is the greatest scene in film history. It was built by the Spanish army for the movie in rural Spain in 1965 and after the shoot, it was abandoned untouched. A group of fans from Spain and around the world worked to locate it, now overgrown but still recognizable, and restore it in time for the film's 50th anniversary. Lots of interviews (some archival) with the likes of Clint Eastwood, Ennio Morricone, Eli Wallach, Sergio Leone, and even James Hettfield. I'm a big fan of "modern archaeology" and I've sought out filming locations (and old baseball stadium locations) when traveling, so this being about one of my favorite scenes in one of my favorite movies made for a great little movie.
