Thought I'd steal the Hardline's idea and look up the number 1 songs in my first 21 years.

Sept 1960 It's Now or Never by Elvis Presley
Sept 1961 Michael by The Highwaymen
Sept 1962 Sherry by The Four Seasons
Sept 1963 My Boyfriend's Back by Angels
Sept 1964 House of the Rising Sun by Animals
Sept 1965 Help! by Beatles
Sept 1966 You Can't Hurry Love by Supremes
Sept 1967 Ode to Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry
Sept 1968 People Got To Be Free by Rascals
Sept 1969 Sugar, Sugar by Archies
Sept 1970 Edwin Starr by War
Sept 1971 Go Away Little Girl by Donnie Osmond
Sept 1972 Black and White by Three Dog Night
Sept 1973 Delta Dawn by Helen Reddy
Sept 1974 I Shot the Sheriff by Eric Clapton
Sept 1975 Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell
Sept 1976 (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty by KC and the Sunshine Band
Sept 1977 Best Of My Love by Emotion
Sept 1978 Boogie Oogie Oogie by A Taste of Honey
Sept 1979 My Sharona by The Knack
Sept 1980 Upside Down by Diana Ross
Sept 1981 Endless Love by Endless Love

The obvious conclusion is that Top 40 Radio absolutely sucks absolutely!

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a few guilty pleasures on this list, but still an incredibly gay list.

Dec 1977 – You Light Up my Life – Debby Boone - Sucks
Dec 1978 – Le Freak – Chic - Sucks
Dec 1979 – Babe – Styx - Sucks
Dec 1980 – Lady – Kenny Rogers - Greatness
Dec 1981 – Physical – Olivia Newton-John - Sucks
Dec 1982 – Truly – Lionel Richie - Guilty Pleasure
Dec 1983 – Say, Say, Say – Michael Jackson - I like it
Dec 1984 – Out of Touch – Hall and Oates - Not good
Dec 1985 – Broken Wings – Mister Mister - Meh
Dec 1986 – The Next Time I Fall – Peter Cetera & Amy Grant - Beating
Dec 1987 – Heaven is a Place on Earth – Belinda Carlisle - Sucks
Dec 1988 – Look Away – Chicago - I like it
Dec 1989 – We Didn’t Start the Fire – Billy Joel - Ok
Dec 1990 – Because I love you – Stevie B - Sucks
Dec 1991 – Black or White – Michael Jackson - Good
Dec 1992 – I Will Always Love you – Whitney Houston - Beats me
Dec 1993 – I’d Do anything for Love – Meat Loaf - Beating
Dec 1994 – On Bended Knee – Boyz II Men - Love this fucking song
Dec 1995 – One Sweet Day – Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men - I could take it or leave it
Dec 1996 – Un Break My Heart – Tony Braxton - I liked it then, probably couldn't listen to it now
Dec 1997 – Candle in the Wind 1997 – Elton John - Beating
Dec 1998 – I’m Your Angel – R Kelly & Celine Dion - Surprised this was ever #1

I think it's more interesting to see what was #1 on the day you were born.

After exhaustively researching What a Fool Believes via googling and reading a wiki page, I see it was released in 1979 which would put you at like 32 or 33. Old you say in the baseball thread? Ha. I scoff at your idea of old.

Number 1 when I was born: People Got to Be Free - The Rascals

For giggles I looked up the number one song exactly 9 months prior. Turns out my parents were getting sweaty and making O faces while listening to the Monkees "Daydream Believer".

November 1985 - Separate Lives - Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin - dated a girl that was obsessed with Phil Collins, hate everything he's ever made.

This song was huge. It was a fucking beating though.

You gave up on black people music too early. I would say 2002 or so would have been a good time. Loved me some Boyz II Men in High School.

Around 1990, I discovered Q102 and The Edge and realized there was a whole world of music out there beyone what The Eagle (which was like Kiss FM is today) and Y95 were playing. Outside of PM Dawn and Arrested Development, I didn't have much use for that hippity hop stuff.

Towards the end of The Bodyguard the tension between the then love of my life and myself was palpable. She had been putting off bad ju ju for the better part of a month and I was desperately trying to alter my personalty any which way possible to keep her love. It was exhausting. When the movie wound down towards the end and Whitney fired those pipes of hers up to this fucking song you could feel the break up energy flowing from Misty's pores. I went to grab for her hand but she pulled away which for my heart was like when Whitney's scarf floated down on Costner's sword blade and it cut in two on the floor. Bitch dumped me on the way home and used that song's lyrics as why. Chick logic. Damndest thing. Hate the song to this day. Dolly's version is even shittier what with the cry voice narration and all.

Sept 1960 It's Now or Never by Elvis Presley - Sorry, hate the Elvis
Sept 1961 Michael by The Highwaymen - Stupid
Sept 1962 Sherry by The Four Seasons - Gaaaaayyyyyyy
Sept 1963 My Boyfriend's Back by Angels - They kind of did something for me, but the song sucks
Sept 1964 House of the Rising Sun by Animals - Not too shabby....
Sept 1965 Help! by Beatles - Pop Beatles, but still makes me smile, and think of the Rutles version (Ouch!)
Sept 1966 You Can't Hurry Love by Supremes - Sucks...
Sept 1967 Ode to Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry - Again, her voice kind of did something for me, but the movie ruined the song..
Sept 1968 People Got To Be Free by Rascals - hippy dogshit
Sept 1969 Sugar, Sugar by Archies - worse than hippy dogshit, phony madeup band dogshit
Sept 1970 Edwin Starr by War - War = ok, this song, not so much
Sept 1971 Go Away Little Girl by Donnie Osmond - sucked, though I might do his sister now
Sept 1972 Black and White by Three Dog Night - Luv the Dog, but this song is a beating
Sept 1973 Delta Dawn by Helen Reddy - SUCKED!!!!
Sept 1974 I Shot the Sheriff by Eric Clapton - didn't understand it for years, but kind of like it now
Sept 1975 Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell - Not his best work
Sept 1976 (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty by KC and the Sunshine Band - Blow me, KC
Sept 1977 Best Of My Love by Emotion - dont even fucking remember this POS
Sept 1978 Boogie Oogie Oogie by A Taste of Honey - makes my dick soft and brain ache to think this was a "hit"
Sept 1979 My Sharona by The Knack - Stupid, but will always sing along, likewise with the revised cover "Ayatollah"
Sept 1980 Upside Down by Diana Ross - Sucked then, sucks now
Sept 1981 Endless Love by Endless Love - Makes my ears bleed, though was always a good choice for a chance at snatch grabbin'
Sept 1982 Abracadabra / Hold Me Now - Steve Miller / Chicago - Both are an instant channel change 30 years later

The obvious conclusion is that Top 40 Radio absolutely sucks absolutely!

I knew we were old, but never realized how nearly equally old. I've added my comments and 1 additional year... life has not been good...
