Okay, seriously?!? Whether you like Obama or not, The office of the president should be extended the respect it deserves. Obama urging kids to stay in school because they could grow up to be president is not a "political indoctrination" type of message.

Three Points:
1st: The president deserves the benefit of doubt. If his message is a generic stay in school, no harm no foul....

2nd: If his message does contain some political undertones, wouldn't it be a chance for parent and child to have a discussion?

3rd: Perspective please. Grade school kids are too young to grasp political agendas, the majority of high school kids will zone out in the first five minutes of political speech.

Bottom line: Much ado about nothing.....

Obama speech to students draws conservative ire

B-b-b-b-b-but he'll be teaching them about socialism and reading from the Koran and he'll want them to register their guns so the GOVERNMENT can confiscate them.

Hey Sagger Sharpton.... Take that race baiting crap down the road. Obama's half white and half black. We can hate his white side if we like.......

to anyone out there who's right wing, here we go.
You are fucking stupid if you think there's some freaking conspiracy to take over the world with this kind of speech.
If Obama had all this evil power, I wish to God he'd have used it for health reform.
Disagree with his policies? Fine.
Take your kids out of school to avoid a speech? That's your right, but you're a fucking moron.

:babyarm:

What the hell could he possibly say to indoctrinate kids? Are parents that insecure about their beliefs and how they raise their kids that one speech (most likely a boring one to kids) will turn them into raging communists?
I only wish.

Defending W's daddy giving a remarkably similar speech back in '91:

Then-Rep. Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., defended the speech, asking, "Why is it political for the president of the United States to discuss education?"

Maybe we can get the Oklahoman Native Americans to annex dallas. Then we'd be able to gamble and do peyote and be friends with colored folks.

i don't understand. I agree that Obama is ruining our economy, but he's our president and the kids need to hear a good motivation speech from him. It will be some needed good news from him.

I think they should air it in prime time, and if you choose to watch it with your children, then do it, and discuss.

Discuss what? Staying in school? There is nothing to discuss. There are NO politics involved.

I am just at a complete loss as to why anyone has a problem with the PRESIDENT of the USA talking to kids about the importance of staying in school.

I can't believe he wants to spread his socialist agenda by telling kids that their school work is their OWN responsibility.

But he'll also tell them if they don't do their school work, the government will just make the smart kids do it for them because every one is entitled to play time/no homework.
