Being little kids, my wife and I have been going out and watching the space station (and now the shuttle) passing by overhead. There's a website that shows when flights overhead are scheduled to happen.

Click me, nerds.

Tonight was a no-go due to clouds. Sometimes the website says there is less than a minute of viewing but it often turns out to be longer than that.

Hoob.

Tuesday night we saw the coolest flyover that we will ever see. The shuttle and the space station undocked at 12:30 this afternoon, and they flew over tonight, one following the other. One was extremely bright, the other kinda dim.

Tomorrow night the shuttle appears in the west at 9:36 and is visible for 2 minutes. Then the space station is visible at 9:39 and is visible for 3.

After several early-morning flyovers, they are back to doing this sort of thing at night. Monday night's is at 9:24, visible for 2 minutes in the NW.

There might be another chance for a double flyover on Tuesday night. The shuttle is scheduled to undock sometime Tuesday and is scheduled to fly over our area at 8:08 pm. Not sure if it's dark enough outside to be viewed, though.

The best thing is, it's a 5 minute flyover, the maximum possible for these things.

Double flyover tonight, plain as it could be: first the shuttle, then the space station. Maybe this will happen again before the shuttles are retired, but it might not.

Helped a friend find this overhead by phone as it was going over. Would have called you sonofabitches, but I guess you aren't as nerdy as old Hoob. Oh, and I don't know your number.

So you're watching bright spots in the sky? I could rub my eyes really hard and get the same effect.
