I read some of his wikipedia entry, so I knew he didn't make it all the way through. I hate that that little shit is the one who did him though.

2 episodes left. :(

Also, the newspaper story line isn't as bad as it started out to be and the 5th season isn't as bad as I've read it is. Gus might be a top 15 character on this show.

I really liked gus, and I liked the storyline ok, but it seemed like to me that David Simon was REALLY trying to make sure he thought newspapers were corrupt and too corporate. That detracted from the story a little.

But, shit, even the worst Wire season is miles ahead of most, if not all of what's on TV now.

Very good read.

Just watched 5.9. Damn. Bubs speech. Michael saying good-bye to Bug and Dukie. That was a rough watch.

Kima giving up McNutty and Freamon. Trying to decide if she did the right thing. I lean towards yes, even though it's hard to blame Jimmy and Lester, especially considering how the Marlo case turned out.

Snoop :(

Short cameo by Bunny. That was a great fucking character.

One more episode to tie up the Templeton story. Anxious to see that, but I'm gonna miss this show. Sadly, episode 10 is on a disc by itself and I don't think I'm going to get it until Tuesday.

:babyarm: That was the hardest scene to watch of the series.

Another awesome read. It was almost as rough to read that as it was to watch it.

I cracked up when O-Dog asked if he still had to take the charge.

I never really cared what happened to Naymond. I feel bad, because he was just a kid, but I always thought he was a prick. I think how Randy turned out was fucking tragic and I'm guessing how Dukie turns out is going to be the same. Michael may still have a chance, but I was rooting for those 3 way more than I was rooting for Naymond.

Snoop's final scene was classic.

Herc is a fucking tool. So now Levy is going to get Marlo's crew off the charges?

Also, I was surprised to hear that Lester was still with that one girl who was with D'angelo in season 1. I didn't know they were together at all, though I knew he dug her.

Carver has made his way into my top 5. He definitely turned around. Bunk, Bunny, Boadie, Slim Charles and Carver are my top 5. Bubs and Omar just barely miss out.

Fuck Carcetti. I missed that line about never giving up on the investigation. I know his hands were tied to a point, but I liked his character until this season. I thought he was going to be a decent politician. I guess they all turn out sleazy.

I didn't watch this show when it was on. I've rifled through Season 4 through On Demand. Just finished the first 5 episodes of Season 5. Will have to wait for the last 5 episodes to show.

A+ show.

Just watched the last two episodes. People sure liked getting shot in the head.

The newspaper line was a little drawn out, but I really liked Gus. He may be my favorite character on the show. Stay hard, the wire.

Gus would probably not be your favorite character if you had seen all 5 seasons. But Gus was a good.

If one of you gents has the first three seasons on dvd, hook a brother up. Then, I could give my review of a show 4 years after it airs.

Unfortunately you can't watch instantly, but DVDs for all the seasons are there.

HBO doesn't allow their stuff to be watched instantly, which is a major suck.

That's why Showtime so much rocks.

Field of 32

-I have no disagreements with their #1 seeds.
-Bubbles at #7 is way too low.
-No Jay, Carver or Slim Charles at all? Those guys would be borderline #4 seeds.
-They completely ignored the media aspect.

First Day results

-I agree that Brother Mouzone was really the Wire's only miss.
-I would choose Partlow over Cutty, but other than that, I agree with the first day results.

Levy was slime, but he was a big character. I liked Gus from the newspaper, but it seemed like they were making him too perfect and the other guy too slimy. Seemed that way for all of the newspaper characters, except the dude in cap's avatar. IMO, after two viewings, season 5 was kind of a mess. Well below season 2 (which after a 2nd viewing is really good) and miles behind seasons 1, 3 and 4.
