I haven't watched Free Solo yet, but last night I watched The Dawn Wall which is another rock climbing spectacle. It was gripping and I was nervous several times while watching it. I was half worried it would provoke a falling dream to post about. I hate those dreams. They frighten me. I ended up sleeping like a champ. Speaking of sleep, one of the creepiest things is how their tents are mounted to sides of these cliffs and they sleep precariously perched thousands of feet in the air. It also shows them doing high altitude pooping whilst hanging off the back of these tent things. Good watch.

I watched The Dirt and have some thoughts on it but would rather read cap's review.

The Highwaymen: thoroughly enjoyed this. Costner and Harrelson were great. Would watch again.

The Legend of Cocaine Island: Pretty entertaining documentary that was a good watch. It was a tale told by the in real life people. The main dude was a character. Probably be kinda fun to have a beer with for a bit until he wasn't. His mustache was kind of distracting like John McCaa's was-- where there is too much shaved space between the bottom of the nose to the top of the hairline. Mustaches are weird regardless though. I thought it was funny how he'd repeatedly pause to work in a dip or spit during his interviews. The cameraman really captured the little nuances of mouf tobacco habits well.

Avengers Endgame - It was good, but it was weird that it ended with Captain America calling Black Panther the N-word. Oh yeah, spoiler.

I was underwhelmed. Really messy storyline that I'm struggling with 24 hours later. 2 great characters were reduced to cartoons. I'm not gonna spoil anything (though who would even read it?) and I get that walking trees and talking raccoons and gods are unrealistic, and I admit I've become a nitpicking prick, but I didn't like how they handled the 2nd act. I don't love time travel anyway, but aside from that, there was too much shit going on and too many "if they can do this, why don't they just do this" questions. Alternate timelines give me tiredhead. Too much fan service. The third act was a little better, but the battle was way too over the top and more of the "if they can do this ..." creeped into my head. And none of it would have happened if a rat didn't happen into an abandoned van. They're also overdoing the space bit. Now I guess everyone can just go to space. I need to see it again, but I don't really want to, at least at the theater. I couldn't wait to see Infinity War a 2nd time. This may be controversial, but I rank it in the bottom 5 of MCU movies.

:picknose: :picknose: .75 (out of 5) There were some great moments. But I've been counting down the days and I felt let down.

Samesies. I'm still not sure how the timelines overlapped, but whatevs. They saved it with the solo at the end, but secretly I was hoping for a different ending. Still, I'll be subscribing the Disney+ and rewatch this 100 times like all the others.

I did like the closure. The ending was a good bookend to the way this started. This whole thing has been 11 years, 20+ movies and several tv shows. Marvel did real good here. Now it's time to hit the reset button and start over.

I have seen exactly one of these MCU movies, the first Captain America installment. I keep saying that I'm going to get around to the rest. Maybe when the Disney streaming service goes live.

You Will Always Be My Maybe: this was pretty entertaining throughout as far as rom coms go although it suffered from a lot of the typical things found in this formula. Twist: it was super Asian centric with Ali Wong as the leading lady. Have you ever watched any of her stand up? She's pretty funny but often goes too far with the raunchiness like comic chicks sometimes do when they seem to try to one up dudes. Keaunu Reeves made a really good cameo as a super douchey version of himself. The main guy, who was the Ali Wong character's childhood friend and eventual love interest had a hot mom in this movie. Spoiler: she dies. Anyhoo, this mom actress lady reminded me of the hot Oriental from Rambo 2 who said "what mean expendable, Rambo?" This sent me down an IMDb rabbit hole where I learned that the Rambo 2 actress is now 65. I was also made aware that Stallone has actually made "Last Blood" to wrap up the Rambo series. It's true, I watched the trailer. It looks terrible.

As bad as the sequels are, I love the original First Blood. It's a stop down for me any time I catch an airing.

Yesterday - Awesome concept. It's a shame the concept was reduced to the secondary plotline. The music was the biggest winner here. That Indian dude had a pretty good voice and the girl who was supposed to be average looking was cute AF.

The Hardline minus Corby shit on it pretty good, so I take that to mean that it's pretty entertaining. I assume you're referring to Lily James and she is indeed cute AF. She was in Baby Driver and had a bit part on Downton Abby.

Yeah, that chick is noice.

The movie is a basic romcom with a Beatles twist. There were several lol moments from Kate McKinnon and Joel Fry. The romancy stuff was bearable cause Lily James was easy to look at. The music was done well. I didn't hate it but I never would have watched it if it were any other band except the Beatles that were forgotten.

Shazam! - It was ok, I guess. I actually liked the main character better when he was a kid.

Other than Wonder Woman, the other 6 DCEU movies are ranked about evenly to me. People raved about this and Aquaman, but I meh'd them. I really don't understand the direction of the DCEU. I want to like these.

Downton Abbey - Call me queer, but I was a big fan of the show. Yeah, it had its soap opera-ish elements, but I thought it was a fascinating look at the decline of British aristocracy after WW1. The movie is a super sized episode of the show focusing on a visit to the estate by King George V and the queen. It was mostly entertaining with an interesting side plot involving the family, but it ran off the rails a little with the downstairs workers going into what looked a little like a slapstick routine. Tom Branson was always my favorite character on the show and, while it takes awhile to get things moving, his storyline turned out to be one of the better in the movie. This was clearly a movie aimed at fans of the show and it won't disappoint most.

Brittany Runs a Marathon--this movie had its moments where it was funny and feel good but it whipped my ass a good bit too. The character arc was a struggle and not an entirely sympathetic one. The other characters were mostly likable and also met or exceeded most of the current day's woke checklist. It was seen in a Movie Tavern type theater and while the crowd was really well behaved and the seats were comfortable, I had to sit around a lot of breathy wing sauce and popcorn odors. A chick next to me was double clutching a popcorn in one hand and a big ass dill pickle in the other. Bleh.

Ad Astra - The seats were really comfortable in the theater we went to, too. Would sit in these seats again. No pickles were consumed in my immediate area.

It's got some similarities to The Wicker Man, but it's about something else. Plus it's one of the most accurate depictions of what it's like to be trippin' balls that I've seen.

Dolemite Is My Name - Can't remember the last time Eddie Murphy was funny. Probably Bowfinger. This movie is a lot like Bowfinger in both subject matter and Eddie Murphy is funny in it. Good movie.

El Camino - not sure if this should go here or in TV since it just felt like a long BB episode. I enjoyed it thoroughly even if it was completely unnecessary. The scene where Jesse dressed down the vacuum cleaner salesman over what he thought was a fake 911 call was pretty funny. The flashback with Walt trying to have a serious conversation with naïve and knuckle-headed early season Jesse was good as well. I thought the revenge on the welder was a little forced and out of character, but it just goes to show how fucked up he was after his ordeal with Todd and Uncle Jack's gang.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: I really liked it. Glad I waited for the comforts of home. 2hrs and 45 min would've sucked in a theater.
I like the Basterds-like rewritings of history mixed with fictional character stories schtick.
