We did, too. Also this is Red Ribbon Week so each day is a theme day for the kids. So today is the Senior Pep Rally and the Seniors are supposed to wear all white while the other classes are supposed to wear black. But the announcement picture that went out simply showed a white tshirt with "Seniors" on it, then a black tshirt with "9-11" on it. I was so confused why today's theme is 9-11 day.

I never was a fan of Red Ribbon Week when I taught, and I really don't know why.

Trinity is playing Bell tonight. It's a Thursday game every year because apparently kids can't control themselves if they play their rivals on Friday nights.

Bell is 6-3 this year and Trinity is 3-6, but they're both 3-3 in district play. Whoever wins tonight apparently gets the final spot in the playoffs for our division. Go sports!

Interesting thing about playing a rival only on Thursday.

This year our rival egged our stands before the big game. Buncha dummies.

All these games switching nights means the storms will be a big dud.

I think this same situation happened just a couple of years ago, right? Either schools moved a bunch of stuff up a day or canceled it altogether, and the big storm turned out to be pretty timid. Texas is getting dumber.

Helluva game last night between Trinity and Bell. Trinity ended up tying the game with just a few minutes to go. In the OT Bell got the ball first and scored a field goal. Trinity took 2 plays I think to score a touchdown and win it.

4-6 record and in the playoffs! :fist:

My alma mater plays my local HS (where my daughter attends) this week in the 6A semi-final. I am rooting for my alma mater. It’s a weird situation. I usually don’t care much about Hs football, but my family isn’t happy with my rooting interest, so it’s making my resolve stronger.

The 6A D1 championship drew over 40,000. Total attendance was a little over 200,000.

It's the first year in a while that I haven't covered a single football playoff game. Playoff football is fun for a photographer.

---------------------

One of the schools that I cover made a big playoff run in volleyball. In November, I found myself at the State championship in Garland, rubbing elbows with Maxpreps and UIL types. It was fun even though it wasn't football. Sometimes these photogs are total a-holes, but the ones I encountered this time were good guys.

The UIL rejected these proposals:

— A proposal to prohibit cheerleaders at basketball games.
— A proposal to allow boys to participate on the girls volleyball team.
— A proposal to prohibit coaches from coaching their own child at the school.
— A proposal to prohibit all athletic activities during the month of July.
— A proposal to add table tennis as a UIL sanctioned activity.
— A proposal to add a 3-meter diving event for the state championships.
— A proposal to add girls lacrosse as a UIL pilot program for the spring of 2024.
— A proposal to allow coaches to coach 7-on-7 leagues in the summer.

I wonder who was behind the push to ban cheerleaders at basketball games? I wish this one had passed.

Lacrosse is a pretty popular sport in school now, isn't it? I wonder why they shot down girls' teams.
