Its a three way between Indy, denver and dallas. All of this is based on the idea that Denver wants out of Melo and Indy wants out of Oneal... You could throw bass in the deal to denver and put Barea in for Jones to get the same general numbers since I don't know that Denver would give melo up for Howard and a crew of spares.

Indy gives Oneal at 19.728 mill for Terry (8.98m) and Kenyon martin (13.25)
Denver gives Melo (13m) and Kmart (13.25m) for howard (9.5m), stack (6.75m), and Eddie Jones (1.8m) +3 mill
Dallas gives Howard, terry, Stack and Jones for Oneal and Melo.
That is brillaint but we need to get rid of Damp. I don't see Oneal playing anything other than Center. Unless you move Dirk over to SF and then the starting 5 would be Kidd Melo Dirk O'Neal Damp. It would have 3 guys playing out of position.

Not that I think any of these trades will ever happen, but you don't have to get rid of Damp in THAT deal. You can have a separate one or you can always bring him off the bench.

the only thing is why in the fuck would indy do that. They're a year away from being rid of 19 mill on their cap... and they'd be committing to 22 more for the next 3-4 years

Here's my hair-brained idea: Howard & Kidd to Miami for Marion & their 1st round pick(unprotected). Kidd for Marion works in terms of salary if Marion consents. I don't know why the Heat would do this except that they could flip Kidd's expiring contract for a couple good pieces to fit around Wade.

Marion and the #1 pick are pretty good pieces to put around Wade. I doubt Miami would go through all the trouble.

Really? Miami's UNPROTECTED 1st round pick? Derrick Rose, anyone? No way in hell does Miami do that deal.

I like Saggers idea, and I think Indy would do it because they are obviously rebuilding right now and it gives them some decent pieces to work with for a player who is obiously gone after this year if not during the off season because of the ETO. O'Neal wants out of Indy so bad he might actually use the ETO.

Yea, that's kinda what I was angling for(and why I don't think the Heat go for it). Or they could get Beasley and do a deal with Toronto for TJ Ford + Joey Graham for Devean George & Terry. Combine that with the previous Kidd deal I mentioned and you have a starting lineup of: Ford, Marion, Beasley, Dirk, Damp.

The time to trade Kidd will be next season at the deadline... if shit doesn't get turnt around by then. You can fleece someone who thinks they're close... like the mavs. :(

Donnie's prolly the best fit for a head coach but he's reluctant to give up the GM position considering the personnel changes needed.
Harris and Westphal have no shot... neither does dantoni. Carlisle's coming in today to interview, JVG might too... he named all of the guys skin was talking about, Flip saunders, Eddie jordan, etc.
Avery really fucking blew it.
Kidd and Dirk are going into next season as the cornerstones. Kidd won't be dealt til next season if at all.
Serious overhaul is needed playerwise...

oh and part of the apathy cubes talked about during the kidd press conference may have been dirk's... he said dirk had basically given up hope til they got kidd.

not that things can get much more uncomfortable after the Mavs went to the brink of a championship in Johnson's first full season, lost that series with a historic collapse and never stopped the spiral ... none of which prevented Johnson from becoming increasingly stubborn along the way, even as his ability to reach his players and please his boss gradually deteriorated.

"It's called Successful Too Fast Disease," one team source said. "But the bottom line is that he lost the team."

Indy might do it because no matter how much cap room they have, no bigtime FA is gonna sign there if they can get close to that amount somewhere else. So they might as well trade him and get something in return.

That being said, I don't think Oneal has much left.

Does T.J. Ford do anything for anybody as a backup/waiting in the wings type? Toronto has to be handing it over to Calderon, right?

The only problem I have with ford is that he's missed 75 games in only four seasons of play.

I know he's injury-prone but I think the Mavs have found themselves in a place where they're gonna have to take a chance on those type of players. If he ends up being Fat Lever all over again, oh well.

karma would dictate wade getting a career ending injury on a hard foul that's not called.

My favorite Wade moment was when he was carted to the locker room in a wheelchair for a shoulder injury. Dude is a drama queen.

This free agency has been hyped for about 2 years now. Mavs need a couple things from this team

1. A Bruce Bowen; shutdown defender
2. A Tyson Chandler; physical center
3. A (insert Western Point Guard Name Here); young, quick, athletic point guard
4. A Jannero Pargo; young, quick, backup point guard

A couple of names to throw out there that I don't think were mentioned that are somewhat interestin:
James Posey
Allen Iverson
Mickael Pietrus
Elton Brand
Jannero Pargo
Kurt Thomas
Chris Duhon
Rasho Nesterovic
Antawn Jamison

All either unrestricted Free Agents or have the option to be UFA's. Much more I could've added, but these names drew my attention the most. Other than the possibility of signing finley to a one day contract so he can retire as a maverick

Why does Rhyner always insist that Dallas has been a big-time free agent destination? Name one.

Never. In the '90s, they got nobody. In the '00s, they started to get guys like Loy Vaught and Walt Williams, so it did get a little better, but they've never got big name free agents. To be fair though, the NBA doesn't have the rampant free agency activity that the other sports do.

That said, players do like to get traded here.

Supposedly the Mavs are going to make a run at Mickael Pietrus and are looking to bring Diop back.

Someone on a Bucks blog was wanting to trade Michael Redd for Stackhouse and Josh Howard. Obviously this doesn't mean anything, but maybe Howard has more value than we think.

Maybe the guy just needs a new dealer.
