AJ signs with the BoSox

Can't say I'm not disappointed. AJ is an asshole but he appeared to really fit in the clubhouse. I don't recall hearing any of the players grumbling about him. His play on the field was pretty pretty pretty good he had some nice at bats scattered throughout the season. I really hoped JD could fit him in. :/

I was meh on him returning. He wasn't bad but he swung at damn near everything especially in the last half. Only 9 unintentional walks all year. It's hard to measure defense and his numbers aren't bad but it just seemed like a lot got by him that maybe shouldn't have although I don't think he had a lot of passed balls.

I agree with every word you said. Would you rather have Soto though? I think both together work and they are still well under that 125 million budget. I'm assuming they have Choice penciled in to get a lot of the LF playing time, so really only C and DH are open offensively, so I probably would have brough back AJP back for another year, unless they have another plan there.

:babyarm: to all of it. AJ drove me crazy sometimes. I trust JD but I still would have liked AJ here. He's got moxy!

For the life of me I don't see how any publicly held business can justify paying the exorbitant fees associated with naming rights. There is no way that a proper ROI could be calculated.

This quote, too, from Ozzie Smith, a veteran of 19 years in the big leagues and 17 years of watching baseball since his career ended, when asked yesterday to name the three greatest shortstops he’s seen play the game:

“Omar Vizquel, Elvis Andrus, and Andrelton Simmons.”

I don't think Matty Harrison is ever going to be Matty Harrison again... Pitching, or the lack there of, will be Wash's undoing this year.

I don't care about the 0-162 comment and the "sleazeball" comment is whatever, but he is a massive bitch for crying about this.

Quote:
didn't like being asked to move to first base in 2013 to make room for middle-infield prospect Jurickson Profar (something the Rangers didn't do after Kinsler voiced his reluctance).

He was ASKED and they didn't force the issue.

It is telling that the Rangers made the right move by the fact he "resented" taking on more of a leadership role after Young left.

So you're saying another one-time fan favorite who helped the team to two consecutive AL pennants is gonna be booed when he returns to town?

I'd say he was a pretty divisive player, outside of the female contingent that is.

He'll be booed his first time through. By his second time through our new leadoof hitter, Ho Chi Minh, will have made us all but forget Kinsler was ever a Ranger!

I won't miss the useless shallow popups, increasing fielding errors and boneheaded base running decisions. I will miss the HOF type fielding plays though. It's a shame, he could have been part of the best infield in baseball. Imagine what a hitter would think walking up to the plate and seeing Beltre, Andrus, Profar, Kinsler and Yu staring at him.

I think the Rangers dodged a major bullet when he refused to move. Moving your 2nd baseman who just hits ok for 2nd base to 1st base where he would be well below average would IMO rank as one of the worst decisions they could have made. Paying 16 million for a shitty hitting 1st baseman that fields pretty well is just stupid and also might kill any value Kinsler had.

:babyarm: If they would have kept Nolan ...

Now Darvish is going to miss opening day, may start the season on the DL. Top 3 starting pitchers are all hurt. Starting 2nd baseman and catcher out for 3 months. Starting SS is having arm issues. Starting 3B, LF, RF and DH have all had minor to fair injuries this spring training. Nefti can't get his fastball above 92.

73 wins.

I wonder who will be managing the Rangers next year?
