Dave Cameron (fangraphs) projected the dead money at the end of both deals and with the 30 mil comin back, he projects it to be about a 7 yr/118 mil deal for Fielder. Not to mention, it opens up a spot for Profar. He hated it for Texas at first.

That sounds better than the almost 20mil/yr I mathed last night. Fucking JD is a goddam genius.

I'm not saying he's not , but this is a great trade for Detroit too so it's not like he ripped anyone off. They have a Profar-like prospect who can play 3B. Miggy can go to 1B. They had a hole at 2B that's now filled and they actually save money on this trade.

See? Everybody wins. Not only is he a genius, he's fair and honest, too.

Both sides got good, and while Prince's contract has the potential to be ugly at the end, he's gonna be scary good in that park for several years.

AJ signs with the BoSox

Can't say I'm not disappointed. AJ is an asshole but he appeared to really fit in the clubhouse. I don't recall hearing any of the players grumbling about him. His play on the field was pretty pretty pretty good he had some nice at bats scattered throughout the season. I really hoped JD could fit him in. :/

oh yeah, trading a marginal player for a first round draft pick just three years ago, who hit well in the minors, and is under team control for 6 years is a terrible move. Stop having woman like reactions to things.

I was meh on him returning. He wasn't bad but he swung at damn near everything especially in the last half. Only 9 unintentional walks all year. It's hard to measure defense and his numbers aren't bad but it just seemed like a lot got by him that maybe shouldn't have although I don't think he had a lot of passed balls.

This might be my favorite offseason. I love all the bigots overreacting to the marginal white players leaving. It is a good thing anytime racists like Cap get up in arms.

I agree with every word you said. Would you rather have Soto though? I think both together work and they are still well under that 125 million budget. I'm assuming they have Choice penciled in to get a lot of the LF playing time, so really only C and DH are open offensively, so I probably would have brough back AJP back for another year, unless they have another plan there.

I'd rather spend money on a DH and roll with Soto and another vet backup like Arencibia or Suzuki, whoever is cheaper. I wouldn't mind Morales or Cruz at DH, maybe Corey Hart. Also, AJ will be 37 on opening day, IJS.

37 doesn't bother me on a 1 year deal, but I would jump on Corey Hart yesterday.

It really is the perfect JD move, especially if you can get an extra year like with Soria and Nathan.

Does he have problems catching fly balls at night games?
