:babyarm: His strike zone was huge and he called strikes sometimes 2 seconds after it hit the glove. The warning of the two teams after the Hamilton HBP was also pathetic. He was making that game about him.

I don't remember ever seeing the bench get warned after their player gets purposely beaned.

That happens all the time. It's to warn them against retaliating.

It's usually after the 2nd one though - or the 1st one after a hard slide or taunting. Guys get hit all the time without warning. This was after the 1st one, with very questionable intent and nothing had happened previously. I didn't even think it was on purpose, which made me wonder why the ump did it. The warning came out of nowhere. There was no previous bad blood. It did come face level though, but I don't even think Wash thought it was intentional. He was more worried that his SP, who already has control issues, couldn't pitch inside effectively with the warning.

I should have been more clear. Somey said it, the Rangers got a warning when they did absolutely nothing prior to warrant it. And he's right that Hamilton probably wasn't hit on purpose. It looked like a brush back pitch that probably just got away from the pitcher.

Not to mention 3 OF with large salaries. They would have to move one of them. And they still have to get something done with Kershaw.

I think JD is too smart for that. My HSO: if the Rangers re-sign Hamilton and Face starts at DH next year then JD is gone.

Okay, keep in mind who is typing this:
Image

1. They'll have to sign him to too many years. All great the first 2 but after that the roids will wear off, his body will really start breaking down and he'll become a distraction.

2. His narcissism is detrimental to the team. Brown contacts? Quitting tobacco in the middle of the season? Doesn't owe the Rangers anything?

3. "As Josh goes, so do the Rangers" - It's great when he's up and loving life, but when he's going through one of his phases he drags the whole team down. There are several exceptional players on the team. They can be great without him.

4. He's killed once and he'll do it again.

All this being said, if they can talk him into taking a 4 year deal I would be the first one to say sign him up.

Texas has a smallish free agent group this year.

Hamilton, Napoli and Mike Adams are the bigger ones.

Dempster, Colby, Uehara, Lowe (please go away) and Oswalt are the only others.

Feldman gets 9.25 if Texas keeps him, 600K if not. Easy choice.
Yoshi also has a similar type of contract, though not for near the money.

Feliz (1st year), Harrison (2nd year), Murphy (3rd year) and Alberto Gonzalez (2nd year) are the only arbitration eligible guys. I don't see any of the first three not coming back.

Disagree.

Point #1 would be valid if he didn't throw out steroids and I'd give it at least 4 years, not 2. The rest get a big :notsure: .

I do agree that a 4 year deal is ideal. Would love to have that with mutual options for years 5, 6, 7.

I almost said a 4 year deal with options but I was afraid someone would ask me what the options were. :/
