Bench. And I've given up getting worked up about it anymore. Until they collapse, how can you argue the logic of keeping Young in?

Wash put Kinsler on 3rd for an inning last night and Ian seemed pretty pumped about it. I wonder if he was considered to play there tonight.

Rangers extend Colby through 2013. Pretty good move in my opinion.

Oh god they suck. They'll never get out of this inning. Blow it up and start over.

I stand by my previous statement about CJ cracking in high pressure games.

Didn't take long for Sciosia to get someone up in the bullpen, which made me laugh.

No matter how much credit Beltre gets for what he does here, it will never be enough.

and I'll reissue this gem from Peter Gammons: Beltre wanted to sign with the Angels, but they traded Napoli for Vernon Wells instead.

SNASTY

That slow breaking ball of his is just stupid. I don't think anyone has hit that in the last 2 outings.

I went to bed early on the 2 previous games but I forced myself to stay up last night to watch the duel. Yu is pretty special and I want to catch as much of his play as possible.

The striking out of the side in the 8th when he looked like he was running out of gas was a thing of beauty. The whole game had a huge playoff feel.

That was Greinke's 2nd straight start to go 109 pitches over 8 innings and have Frieri blow it for him in the 9th.

Walking Josh to get to Beltre? What did they think would happen?

The level of dumbassity here astounds me. It was 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in a tie game in the bottom of the 9th. You walk the hitter--don't care who he is--to create a force at any base. It didn't work, but it was the only smart play they had.

Stupid baseball people are all over the place lately. Fuckin' ponderous, man.

I really think they knew that, but were joking around about Beltre's awesomeness.

I figured it was to get it position for a double play but Josh has 177 strike outs this year vs Beltre's 77. One could argue the easier out would be Josh. One could also argue that it didn't matter what the A's did, the Rangers were winning that game.

No guys, at the time I wasn't thinking "force at any base". My thought at the time was that they wanted a man on first to increase the chance of a double play to get out of the inning. I think it's obvious by baseball knowledge is limited.

Somey's partially right though, my post was mainly a celebration of Beltre, who has been at the top of my list for favorite Ranger for a while now.

Olney On Price, Andrus, Leyland
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [September 21, 2012 at 10:43am CST]
Some talent evaluators believe Rays left-hander David Price could be traded this winter, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports. Here’s the latest from Olney, who runs down potential suitors for Price in his latest column...

•Price’s trade value will never be higher than it will be this winter, Olney writes. However, the left-hander’s salary will rise considerably from $4.35MM following his Cy Young-caliber 2012 season. This means the budget-conscious Rays will probably decide to part with Price at some point between now and when he hits free agency after the 2015 season. “There will be a day when the Rays trade him,” Olney writes.
•Tampa Bay could seek up-the-middle players for Price, who has extraordinary trade value as a controllable top-of-the-rotation left-hander.
•There’s a wide expectation that the Rangers will trade Elvis Andrus this winter. But Andrus isn’t a great fit for the Rays given his salary and service time, so they’d presumably ask about shortstop prospect Jurickson Profar in talks for Price.

If the front office offered Elvis a 10 year contract (at a reasonable salary) it would make me a very happy nubber.

So, the Rays have to dump Price, who has been pretty badass this year, because he's too expensive. And Buster thinks they might want Elvis, who will get a Uhaul truckload of money in a couple of years? Throwing shit up against the wall to see what sticks.

I just now watched the replay of Beltre's game winning hit on Monday night. Kinsler was at second. He was tipping the pitch.
