Yes you'd think I, an obvious hardcore liberal, would have a little more fortitude.

The double header in Detroit screwed something up. Lewis and Darvish are the only starters to get a win since then and Lewis had a no decision the day after.

BTW, I haven't heard anyone talk about it, but does anyone else think Josh is juicing? He's in a contract year and all of a sudden he's setting records. Fits the M.O. of a baseball player. See: Texieria, Pujoles, Beltre, etc.

I know he has regular drug tests, but I think HGH just raises the testosterone level for a few days, right? He could easily work around that.

Last year was one of Pujols worst years statistically.

Hamilton has gone on tears before. Let's slow the juicing talk down. He's always been extremely talented. His 162 game averages the last 4+ years are sick. It's not like he just started this.

I suppose everyone is a suspect.

Ya with the slobberfest the media gave Pujols last year I assumed he was having a record year. I looked it up and indeed it wasn't a stand out year for him. Why all the hype then? Just to drive up his value?

Josh has gone one tears but this start is insane. My main concern is now the talk of "sign him at all cost" is starting up. I think offering ~5 years ~$90-100 million won't end well. If they could talk Josh into a 3 year deal then I'd say throw every cent at him. I just hope Daniels is taking everything into consideration and doesn't base his offer on this season alone.

I should qualify all this with I love watching the guy play and am typing this with a stiff Rangers weenie this morning.

Isn't it great how Jesus gave Josh the ability to hit but didn't bother to give the pitchers the ability to strike him out? Jesus loves him some Josh.

I imagine 5/$90M is the starting point. I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. It's the 10/$200M deal that won't end well.

5/90 is a no brainer in my opinion. It's not my money and I don't know what their budget is, but 5/130 sounds good. I do think he wants to stay in Texas. Not sure what that means financially.

What if Josh gets hurt again and misses a significant amount of games? Seems like people would be hesitant to throw stupid money at someone they KNOW will break down.

After Fielder's and Pujols' contracts I suppose nothing should be unexpected.

If you think 5 years is a risk you haven't been paying attention to baseball contracts around the league.

And while he does spend some time on the DL you need to stop acting like he's missing 80 games a year. With Texas except for '09 he's still at or near 500 ABs a year.

5 years is barely a risk at all. He'll start to decline toward the end of that but should still be productive, barring a nasty injury. He and his agent won't want only 5 years, though, since he won't get good money for his declining years. They want that shit guaranteed up front. Pujols, Fielder, and ARod all have terrible contracts. Their teams will hate them later if they don't hate them already. Hamilton will get one of those too. You pay later for production now. That's just how it goes.

From everything I've read, 4 for 70 million was the deal left on the table before the season. 5 for 90 still sounds like a bargain to me but it won't be near enough. He's going to get stupid money probably in the 200 million territory and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it comes from the Rangers.

CJ only lasting 22 pitches is hilarious.ayne one of these days he'll be able to handle big games.

People are saying Daniels should be scrambling to sign Josh but why wouldn't he wait until Josh cools off or gets hurt?

I don't know which one of the ESPN idiots said it, but I swear heard something like this after the Elvis hit in the first:

"The Rangers have a big decision: go for one run early or have a really big inning."

:notsure: I think they're going to do what they can to score as many runs as possible, right?
