Buster Olney is reporting that the Yankees' offer was "only" 6 six years and $138 million. It's amazing that a place like Philadelphia can make that good of an impression on someone. But I guess it did.

Cue the Rocky theme song.

I heard the Musers say this morning that nobody should ever again use the phrase, "He wants to be near his family and will sign here."

Shouldn't they also add the State income tax thing? Nobody should ever say that is a reason to sign here, yet I heard it again, this time from Georgie, who I love dearly.

Have fun paying for his bad back, Philly.

Seriously, they have perhaps the sickest starting rotation ever right now.

Now I'm reading 5/120 and the 24 per year is the highest per year that was being offered.

Apparently Lee has a son with leukemia in remission. There is a very good children's hospital in Philly that's one of the best in the country.

The new ownership should have built a hospital in the Ballpark.

That's just as dumb as all of the people saying he wanted to play here because of taxes or being close to home or that he didn't want to play in NY because fans said dirty words to his wife. He wanted to play in Philly more than he wanted to play here or in NY. I don't know why there's such a need to justify it with non-baseball reasons.

$25M to a 39 year old pitcher is a bad idea.

Offering a 6th year was insane enough, esp at the money they had on the table.

I read he was in the Rangers' system the previous year but he's not now. Watch him win 20 this year.

They'll be lucky if they get some bullpen work out of him. His arm will asplode if he pitches more than 100 innings.
