Based on his willingness to change his approach (unlike Mazara) and the way he ended 2019, I'm more than fine with him starting the season, mostly because of lack of options. But he's gotta be on a short leash.

The only way Choo gets moved is if he's producing and they eat a yuge chunk of his salary. If they're gonna pay him anyway, I'm almost inclined to say enjoy his production, especially if it matches the last 2 years and they think there's a chance they can win now. Doesn't help in the long run with the young guys, of course.

I'm ready for the short leash for Odor. I've always defended him because he's young and he's shown flashes, but it's time to shit or get off the pot. I don't know what they do with him because that contract isn't as unmovable as Choo's but it's pretty rough if they're trying to dump him.

It's worth pointing out that he'll be only one year older making $21 million in the last year of his deal than Rendon making $38 million in the last year of his deal. Apples-oranges since the wear and tear on an infielder is different than an outfielder, but it just shows a lot of multi-year deals look like shit on the back end.

I don't know that stripping their title carries all that much weight 2 or 3 years later. Everyone already reaped the benefits. I get why they avoided punishing players since the union would have dragged this shit out forever, but they obviously didn't dig into the use of buzzers any deeper than they had to. There's enough circumstantial evidence to point to it that they should have noticed something.

I guess the buzzers thing has proven to be nothing.

I do love how Astros fans twist themselves into pretzels defending this shit, though. I have yet to see a Sawx fan online that has hasn't said good riddance to Cora, but I suppose it's because they have other titles to fall back on. Okay, then what? No world series winner that year, which means everyone will still associate the win with the Astros? Well I wasn’t totally serious. It was more of a reflection of my hatred for the Astros and I understand the slippery slope it would cause. But since you asked - option #1 sounds ok. Option #2 isn’t an option because you couldn’t be sure that the AL runner up wouldn’t have beaten the Dodgers.
