I can tolerate Astros fans, but they act like their one WS win gives them the street cred of the Yankees.

I may be the only non-Yankees fan in the world that likes Yankees fans. I went to a Sunday night Yankees-Mets game at Citi about 10 years ago and it was a top 5 in person baseball moment for me.

Reid Ryan will no longer be president of the Houston #Astros but remains in the organization as a business advisor.

The only thing I miss about Ryan being here was the semi-regular interviews with Bush.

Ryan wanted to sign Hamilton to a long-term big money contract. We probably would have been worse off if he stayed here instead of taking his talents to South Texas.

I've always thought this was something that everyone does, but it does seem very Astros-like as of late to be sold out by a former player when they were being so blatant about it.

I assume everyone does it, but them basterds got caught and that makes me happy. I'm all for the old-fashioned sign stealing, but technology makes it too easy. P&Cs will just constantly change their signs to stay ahead of it.

I would have loved Rendon, but we'd be bitching about it in 4 years like we do with Choo. And the Rangers are a lot further away now than they were when they signed Choo.

Choo is fine in a vacuum, but his salary and the fact that he can't play OF is prohibiting other moves. I don't know what the going rate is but 9 wins for that contract seems like a loss. Personally, I would chalk the 20m up to a loss and move on (at least bring him off the bench so Calhoun can DH - I'm sure Choo could still get 400 PA between off days and injuries) but it's not my 20m. No doubt, I was on board at the time though.

I'd rather see another season of Choo than other one of Odor.

I've always liked Choo. He's not shattering any HR records which I guess is what we were hoping for with that salary, but when he's healthy he consistently hits and keeps innings alive.

Nobody thought he was going to shatter HR records. He looked like exactly what they needed at the time. I like Choo too, but he's 37, makes 21m, can't play the field, and won't be here when the Rangers are good again. The Rangers have a younger guy who can hit but can't play defense at 1/40 of the salary.

This isn't about Choo being a bad player.
