It does suck, but it would suck worse if he got traded to Boston.

Griffey to the White Sox, pending his approval.

Griffey better not turn it down. This might be his only chance to get to a WS.

The Pudge thing shocked the shit out of me. I had to run out and buy tickets to the Yanks game next Thursday.

I don't quite understand the Griffey trade, they don't really have anywhere to play him. He can't be a full time CF anymore and they're pretty much set with Quentin and Dye at the corners. I don't think they wanna platoon a 500HR player and a 600HR player at DH, but that might be their best option.

I heard something about Swisher at 1B and Konerko getting benched. They're gonna have more holes in their defense than the Jacksox.

Not really. Bay is not that much of an offensive downgrade and a big defensive upgrade. Plus he's signed thru next year at $7.5M. The prospects they gave up are marginal, and they got rid of a headache. Sucks to say, but it's not that bad a deal for the Sox.

It was interesting to see the talking heads on TV discuss who won and who lost in the trades. Most said the Yankees did the best, and they were mixed on the Red Sox.

One said the Mariners were the losers because they did nothing. I'm glad the Rangers were not involved. Score one for JD.

Mariners dumped their resident senior citizen Arthur Rhodes.

I like Bay, he's a decent player but I think they did take a step back offensively with that move. He's better defensively sure, but Manny didn't cost them many games with his glove as he won them with his bat. I think the Yanks pass them and they will struggle for the next several years to be in the division race now, let alone the Wild Card.

I'm not so sure about the Yanks passing them. Next 2 weeks for the Yanks:
3 LAA @ home
4 @ TEX
3 @ LAA
3 @ MIN

This is the part of the season where their pitching is exposed and they fall back with the pack.

Apparently the Mariners were asking for top level prospects for Raul Ibanez and Jarrod Washburn. They will be in the AL West cellar for a while. Think Ichiro wants a do over on resigning with them?

Judging by his intro press conference, the whole "Manny being Manny" bit is going to get a LOT of play out there. The Dodgers desperately needed his bat and didn't give up a lot to get him, but I don't think it's enough to get them pass Arizona. I still think the D-Backs' pitching will get win that division for them. For the record, I like Manny, but I don't blame Boston for wanting to get rid of him. They got a really good player in Bay. He's not as good as Manny, but he's a damn good player that was stuck in MLB's toilet, the Pirates.

No, I don't do coke and lie my way out of a career. Not that I'm accusing a certain "Hammer" type of person of doing that. Just sayin'.

I'm rather enjoying this 8th inning meltdown by the Yankee pitching staff. 6 runs in so far, no outs, Angels lead 9 -3.

If I may address this a bit late, there are a lot of Yankees fans out there on the west coast. When I lived out there, the Yanks were godawful (late 80s), but those games were still half Angels fans/half Yankees fans. There was no reason to bandwagon then, and there isn't much reason to do it now. There were a lot of fans out there because people relocated from NY, but continued to root for their team. The Yankees are so hated at this point that anyone who jumped on bandwagon the past 10 years is now off so they don't have to listen to anyone's shit.

Maybe it's different out there.

There weren't that many Yankee fans cheering here in the eighties. I could go to Arlington Stadium and not have to hear that. I never experienced it at the Ballpark until after they won the World Series in 1996. Then it all changed. The same thing happened after Boston won.

Hoob.

Why in the world do I sign my name after posts? That is stupid.

Hoob.

Instead of bandwaggoning, they could be the kind of fans who continue to throw money at a consistently mediocre team.

And I've always experienced fans from up north here, even at the old stadium. Not trying to be contradictory here, but I even remember it as a kid. Mainly the Red Sox and Yankees, but to a degree, it was even the White Sox and Tigers. The Tigers fan has gone dormant with a traditionally bad team, but I always remember Yankees and Red Sox fans.
