At the very least, he replaces Colby and it sounds like they only gave up two meh prospects.

Feliz is out for the year, needs TJ surgery. Shoulda kept him as a closer.

And Oswalt to the pen.

Sucks for Feliz.

Don't matter. We will make the playoffs regardless. That's all that counts

This thing is done. Trade Josh, fire Wash, Osh Kosh by Gosh.

Awesome. I'm guessing he'll get more time than Snyder did, so who loses ABs?

LSB is speculating it will be Face. They made the "tough" move of putting Oswalt in the pen and not Feldman (though how long that lasts remains to be seen), so it's not crazy to think.

I'm guessing Soto already cuts into MY's time, by moving Nap to 1B/DH more often (though he hasn't been great either). And Mitch cuts into MY's time at 1B. Olt wasn't brought up to get 20 ABs every month. This is gonna be interesting.

How long until PADMY throws a tantrum in the media? Should we have his binky on standby in case he starts pouting?

I sure hope so but unless there's a directive from the FO I just doubt that Wash plays him less since Young is a "clubhouse leader". At least Nap's OPS is still above average. Young's is borderline terrible... as a DH.

My guess is you are right and finding time for a guy who will probably only play half the games anyway shouldn't be too hard. Between Nap, Mitch and Murph (Mitch can play outfield and I'm assuming Olt can play some too), and the occasional day off for Beltre, Hamilton, Cruz, MY shouldn't lose too many ABs. I do think they'll want to play Soto more than they played Norbit though, so that will cut into some ABs too.

"The thing is, if this is a true meritocracy, Michael Young is the one who will lose playing time. He's 35 years old, has no defensive value, and is hitting .268/.296/.345 on the season. Yorvit Torrealba, who was designated for assignment because he wasn't playing well enough to keep his job, had a 643 OPS -- 2 points higher than Young. His defenders have said, "Young is heating up, he's hitting .292 since July 8." And while its true that he's hitting .292 since July 8, it is with three extra base hits and one walk. His slash line during that time is .292/.293/.347. And the reason the Young defenders pick July 8 as their starting point is because he went 4 for 6 with a double that day...if you look just at Young's post-ASB slash line, he's at .258/.261/.303. Even in the month of July, when all the Rangers hitters (other than Nelson Cruz) have been slumping, Young was at the bottom of the group."

I bet Nap doesn't play as much at 1B now too.

I like Napoli behind the plate. Dunno why but I always have a comfortable feeling when he's calling the game. Maybe it's all the sexy gear he wears.

Soto batting 7th, Olt batting 8th playing 1B, Dempster pitching. Good times.

While Dempster certainly isn't Cliff Lee, Cliff gave up 4 HRs his first start as a Ranger.

So apparently, Hamilton's issues stem from quitting chewing tobacco? WTF? He felt the need to be secretive about that?

Angels lose in walkoff fashion to the Hawk Harrelson Sox and are now 6 back. I think the Rangers coming back on them might have been their catastrophic moment for the season. At least I hope so.

I'm trying to figure out why it was such a damn secret. Didn't he talk about it openly last year when he was trying to quit? I agree with a comment I read on Deadspin the other day: His talk of punishment from God has to scare the shit out of any front office thinking of throwing stupid money his way. Using God-talk as a way of avoiding taking responsibility for relapsing, poor performance, etc. is pretty disturbing behavior.

The guy is a head case. Most likely bipolar. When he's up he's REALLY up, and when he's down he brings everyone down with him. I know the Rangers success at the plate lives and dies by Josh, but what if he wasn't there? He can't bring the team down if he's not in the dugout. (just saying)

What a shit game all around. That sac bunt call was almost as dumb as snorting coke. What's worse is with Elvis going down and Gonzales just sucking that means face at short.
