But I'd imagine that adding Prince to that lineup would make any fan Cream.

The excitement over the signing would definitely make the first day of spring training a manic Monday.

Only the dumbest Rusty Greer loving Ranger fan would be upset at them bringing in Prince Fielder and getting rid of Young. Fielder would dominate in this park. He may not be a gold-glove first baseman, but he's not the butcher Young is. Trade Mike Young for a bag of Nickels and bring in Fielder.

:babyarm: especially to the bolded parts. I still like Young, but I'd eat 90% of his salary for him to Gett Off the team, if it meant they got Prince.

Prince could signify a new power generation of Rangers sluggers.

Are you suggesting they should adopt the name Power Rangers?

Cubs and Red Sox talking to Maddux. Rangers might need to spend some money and get some pitch coaching in here.

My name is Diello. I solve problems.

Let CJ walk. Make Neftali a starter. Let Mike Adams close. Doesn't matter. Closer is the most overrated position in sports.

Your opening day rotation would be Colby, Dutch, Matty Light, Rapa Nui, and Nefty. I'd take that.

Trade Mike Young for a hot meal, or a sandwich at least, and sign Prince. Kins, Tiny E, the Drug Store, Papa Vegan, No Nickname Beltre, the Italian Stallion, Jericho (he blows near walls), generic center fielder, Yorvit or whatever DH combo you need. That's a damn good line up.

I'd probably try to get Yu Darvish and keep Nefti at closer. I agree that the closer is the most overrated position, but I'm not sure his secondary pitches are good enough for 6-7 innings. If they can't get Darvish, Oswalt or Buerhle would be cheaper options.

Looking for Leonys Martin in CF.

Getting Fielder and trading Young would leave Murphy/Yorvit/Moreland at DH, which I'm completely ok with.

I do think they're going to spend and not re-signing CJ (currently at 7 MM) and trading Young (16 MM) would help that out, though they'd probably have to eat a chuck of Young's salary.

I'd also re-sign Mike Gonzalez.

Darren Oliver is a type A free agent, so nobody is going to sign him - they would have to give up their first rounder for him. He says he doesn't want to retire. Not sure what the Rangers think of him, but I'd much rather have Gonzalez in Oliver's role.

I didn't see anything from Feliz this year that would make me want to put him in a starter role. I would even question if he'll be able to be a closer next year. I doubt CJ will be back but his 16 wins will need to be replaced. Hopefully they have enough to get them to the break and maybe pick up a gun for hire to take em to the playoffs.

I would love to keep Young only as a DH but I don't think his ego will allow that. Like Dippity Do Da says, if they can get a bag of dirt for him they should take it (even though they'll still end up paying at least 6mil of that salary)

Papelbon is going to the Phillies. He had 31 saves last year? I'm surprised it was that high.

The Cards name Mike Matheny as their new manager. He has no coaching or managerial experience.

Nolan said Texas is probably out on Fielder or Pujols. I'm driving the Mark Buehrle train now. I'd still love Darvish, but Buehrle is safer.

• Jim Bowden (ESPN/XM) predicts Pujols ends up with a nine-year, $243 million deal ($27 million per year), probably with the Cardinals or Cubs. Bowden sees Fielder getting eight years and $192 million ($24 million AAV) from the Cubs, Mariners, or Rangers; C.J. Wilson getting five years and $75 million ($15 million AAV) from the Yankees, Angels, or Rangers; Heath Bell getting three years and $30 million from the Rangers, Red Sox, or Blue Jays; Joe Nathan getting one year and $7.5 million from the Twins or Orioles; and Mike Gonzalez getting two years and $7 million from the Rangers or Brewers.

12.5 for a closer is silly. Papelbon is good though. I know he blew that last one, but he had thrown 56 pitches the previous 2 days.

Feliz has been told he is going to the rotation, so I guess the rotation is set unless they plan on moving Ogando back to the pen, which I'm ok with if they can get Buerhle or Oswalt.

For what it's worth, Feliz was a pretty decent starter in A and AA in 2008. 2.69 ERA with a WHIP around 1.1, pretty decent strikeout. I know that doesn't necessarily translate to big league success, but it shows there's some history there.

I hope Ogando's late slide was just due to fatigue. He looked like a big money guy for most of the year.

I'm not down on Ogando, but if they can strengthen the rotation more, he makes the most sense (other than Feliz who they've already told would start) to go back to the pen.

Have they said anything about Ogando? I'm just assuming he will be a starter again next year, he earned it. If there has to be a choice I'd rather see Feliz in relief over Ogando. If they're planning to start them both then okay.

I guess if we have no choice, sure. But right now it's CJ for Nathan and that's a downgrade considering Feliz has never started in the majors and Nathan hasn't exactly been great the last 2 years. So I'd at least like them to make an attempt to improve the rotation and if Ogando shows in Spring Training that he's too good to go back to the pen, then move Harrison. Or Feliz. I don't care.

Ya I meant as long as they aren't giving Ogando's starting spot to Feliz. Obviously if they spend some money and gets some pitching it trumps everything else.

edit: i accidentally a couple of words
