I wasn't sure where to put this and I don't know if this is a pet peeve or just uncomfortable or what but it has to do with TV interviews. I'm talking about when a host in some network studio has someone on and the guest is either on the phone, satellite, or more often times than not in the studios of an affiliate. There is always a slight delay and my peeve, if you will, is when the interview wraps up and they thank the guest for their time and then you have a weird pause and then the guest says "your welcome" or whatever. The hosts are sitting darting their eyes around waiting for a response and the lack of flow is uncomfortable. If I was producer, I would tell the hosts to say thanks and move on to the next story and end the audio transmission to the guest.

Again this is a lame topic but the boards were slow and I just felt like putting thoughts out there after having watched a weird transition on TV.

Going got a bike ride. Pray I don't Hoob.

You when sometimes you're eating a big burrito and the giant tortilla tears toward the bottom and everything starts to fall out? They should give you a smaller tortilla to wrap around bottom in case that happens. It wouldn't piss you off and it'd be less messy, saving on napkins.

If I had a TV station I'd have the thing programmed so that any time there is a 2 second pause in an interview, a fart drop automatically plays.

That would get great ratings.

This happens every morning on Channel 5 when the crew checks in with Matt Lauer (sp) on the Today Show. The dismount is always unsettling.

They should play fart drops over him anyway.

By the way, Debra Ferguson (Mrs. Steve Lamb) does something for me.

She needs to work on her delivery. She uses too much air when she speaks, making for irregular pauses. Plus she over laughs. WAAAY over laughs.

We should just stop doing live interviews altogether. It is a horribly inefficient way to deliver news. Just tape every interview and cut out the worthless parts. Nobody wants to sit through a 5 minute interview to hear the one good part that lasts thirty seconds. If the whole interview sucks then cut the whole damn thing. You'd be doing everyone a favor.

And stop with the constant live reporting. It's 10:02pm and they got a reporter at City Hall. The building is empty save for a single security guard. Nothing is happening there at that moment. Let the reporter and camera crew go home.

And btw CNN, not everything has to be "breaking news".

It seems like lately grocer parcipitation in offering free samples is waning, specifically in the bakery. Target used to keep them right on the cake display counter and if you had a little moxie you could nab about 3 or 4 cookies at a time but no sign of them on recent visits. At Tom Thumb the other day they had those standing domed pod displays that used to be for samples clumped up in a corner, empty.

Don't you just load up on frozen pizzas and mac and cheese? That can't be hard.

I'm glad you brought this up. I never got this either. Same thing when freezing weather is in the forecast. Having a reporter near the high-5 with cars zipping past telling me its going to be really cold is a wast.

Oh, and I hate Shelley Slater. She's cute but I can't stand her. Just wanted to say that out loud.

I agree. Get married and you don't have to worry about it. I was eating chipotle three times a week.

Sadly, that would be one of the main reasons I get married.

That's not sad. I got married for the financial flexibility and so I wouldn't have to go to the grocery store anymore.

I thought that having a kid would get me out of lawn mowing duty or at least paying for someone else to do it. Then we had a girl.

I got married because I was a fucking borderline inbred hick from Waco with the sense of a thimble full of air.
