Damn near everywhere I've worked has the same policy. It all depends on whether you have a cool boss who says fuck that shit or an asshole boss who enforces it.

I went with a sammich to include 2 eggs over easy between 2 heavily buttered pieces of toast with pepper jack cheese and 3 strips of bacon.

It's a company policy that's enforced by upper management. Even if my boss wanted to I don't think he could do that.

I used to work for assholes who made me drive to Dallas on days like this. It would take 2 hours to get to work driving in this stuff. I quit as soon as I could.

I was in the very preliminary stages of deciding whether or not to go to work. Preliminary like putting on my tennis shoes to go see if the driveway was icy (it's almost at a 45 degree angle). When the power went out. This should be interesting. My kid may freak when she wakes up without a nightlight.

They just said on Fox 4 that Oncor is doing rolling blackouts of about 15 minutes or less.

70 minutes and counting

I woke up this morning at 6 with the power off. I came back on a couple of minutes later. My laptop was down to 90% so I'm guessing the electricity was off for half an hour or so.

Just came back on. 110 minutes. The house is fucking freezing.

Power is still out in Corinth. Probably 90 minutes and counting.

My power went off and on all morning. I had to take a shower in the dark but the water was still hot. Then I walked to work like a chump. Although if I'm sitting in the dark I'd rather get paid to do it than not.

They had an Oncor rep on KRLD this morning while I was driving in and you could tell she had no clue what she was talking about. In the course of the 3 minute interview, she said "we are monitoring the situation" about 10 times and in response to every question. Whoever was interviewing her wanted to know how rolling blackouts helped the demand issue and she basically stuttered through a non-answer. How hard is that question, idiot?

Mine went out again at 9:15. Yay.

Mine never went out but I went to the store to buy some firewood just in case. Sitting in my home office with a nice fire keeping me warm sipping some coffee while the wife and kid play in the living room as fresh cookies are baking in the oven. Good times.

Back on at 10, right at 45 minutes. Good thing, too, I was ready to start killing the neighbors for food.

Power was out 2 hours, came on for 20 minutes ans went back out.

Dallas is apparently trying to talk some sense into the lectric company to stop blacking out this area, seeing as how we're right in the middle of the largest sporting event in the world.

Been off 4 times so far in Denton. I miss the days when the city had its own power plant and didn't have to rely as much on a fucking grid.

We must have generators here at work because it hasn't gone out once.

So reportedly the Dart trains took 3 hours to get from Plano to Downtown this morning because of the power outages. And we thought we could host a Superbowl. How embarassing. I wonder how many tourists are sitting in their hotel rooms with the power off right now.

fuck this redundancy. where's my power outage? I want to take a fucking paid nap goddamnit.

The blackouts are due more to deregulation. Power companies are now more worried about the bottom line than maintaining infrastructure. Yay capitalism. In other news Wall Street pay hits record $135 billion.
