Has anyone else see the little land slide on the south side of 30 in between G Prairie and Loop 12? Dunno exactly where it is. I'll make a mental note tomorrow if I remember.

Freaky thing though, part of an embankment just gave way and slid down about 20 feet. I don't remember seeing it before today. There isn't any type of construction around it and it doesn't look like anything has been done around there since it happened.

Suddenly this thread makes no sense. Guy who also laughes at Terd isn't helping.
Anyway, here's a pic:

it's not the best shot, but you can see it on the left there. it's right across the highway from the nokia sign.

I've seen those in Denton before. I just assumed someone went at it with a bulldozer. No, I'm not an engineer.

I don't think this was done on purpose. You can see at the bottom that the grass is all there, like everything just slid down the hill. I wonder if the recent rains did this. I'll try to get a better pic if possible, the thing is huge.

I can't see your pic but is it possibly part of a levee? I know the Trinity runs just north of 30 around there. Landslides happen at levees every so often sometimes due to being improperly constructed. Most of the time it's caused the ground being oversaturated with rain.

That doesn't look like it's all that steep to me and slopes are usually limited to 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 especially in areas like that. Is that part of the recent construction along 30? Sometimes there's too much sand in the fill material they use to build the embankment. Construction plans almost always dictate what type of material is to be used as fill so if it isn't rainfall that caused that I'd blame the contractor.

My thoughts are similar. Someone either didn't pack the shit good enough, used the wrong kinda dirt, or something. That's not supposed to happen. If all that dirt would have actually piled into the highway it could have been bad.

The one on 35 is right by the old Mexican Consulate. I think that they closed that place down due to some crooked shit going down in that building. They probably got pissed off and kicked that levy down. Either that or there was a bunch of motherfuckers swimming across that swamp to get to Irving and just wore it down.

There was some shit going down there where they were squeezing more money from the Mexicans who want passports and visas. The director of the place was ousted. It just seemed more interesting than the place just moving.

Who would think that there is corruption in the Mexican government?

I got pulled over by the police in Mexico for going the wrong way down a one way street. They were going to take my ass to jail, but luckily, I had a friend that could speak spanish in the car and he talked them into taking $100 and letting me go. The funny part was that they pulled me over by chasing me down and pointing a revolver at me from the police car. That is a quality country.

Channel 5 was talking about the mudslides this morning. They had shots of several of these all over the metroplex, but none of them looked as big as this one. Apparently this is the start of Armageddon.
