They bitch more than I do. Why is he blaming U2 for the sound sucking to the people in the upper deck? They didn't build the fucking stadium. Bitch at Jerry for making a venue that is only good for football.

Well, he's starting to bitch about Jerry now.

Has anyone been there for any kind of concert? Is the sound as horrid as being advertised?

Texas stadium was horrible for concerts, too. I honestly don't think there is a stadium that is good for concerts, though. Accoustics are never at the forefront of the design process.

I was at the McCartney show. The sound wasn't too bad from where I was at, but it wasn't spectacular either. His opening band sounded like shit.

I went last night and sat on the 300 level. The sound for Muse was god awful, but much improved for U2. Who the fuck goes to a stadium show to hear album quality sound? It was a pretty damn good show in my book.

We sat in 312 and thought it sounded fine. I keep hearing conflicting stories that the stage was supposed to be in the middle but then I also hear the stage is always at one end. I'm surprised that U2 didn't find a way to incorporate the largest HD screen in the world into their show. That would have made even more egg drop soup fall out of my peepee.

I knew going in they put on a awesome/elaborate show. I was expecting/wanting an awesome/elaborate show. I got what I paid for. If you wanted something else then you should stick with your gay-ass Wide Spread Panic bullshit.

REM is there example of band making it big without selling out? Grateful Dead? You know what? You can have 'em both. BIG FUCKING DEAL. I don't mind REM's music and I've never listed to the Dead but you would have to pay me to go to one of their concerts. If they made a make-shift stage in my backyard and hauled in all of the equipment necessary to put on a good show complete with lights and big screens, I might stick my head out the back door to see what's going on but that's only if my dog was dragging its ass and across the carpet and needed to take a shit.

Are these examples really their justification for being douches and missing the point of a U2 show?

Well, it's important that he keep his vocal chords moist.

Might be the best point you've ever made on this board. Ever.

Ooooooh, look at us! We're musicians! We never sell out! That's so fucking stupid. Prove it and play for free, then, douchebags. Unless you are going to be like Keith Green and give your music away, shut up with the corporate hate.

Hoob.

If you're just now bitching about U2 selling out, you haven't been paying much attention to them these past several years or so. There was an iTunes commercial about 5 years that should've whacked your dumb ass over the head about it. The only time selling out matters is when the quality of product dramatically suffers after doing it. U2, REM, etc., regardless of how you feel about them, still put out pretty good music. Yeah, they've already peaked creatively, but they're still solid.

it's a douchey move if you, as a band, already make shitloads touring, etc and still sell out.

I thought that was cool. Of course, they were creative and did something fun with it, plus it became a funny story. But I don't care if some guys in their 30s or 40s go for a cash grab as long as they continue to make good music. You can only live on Ramen noodles for so long.

REM hasn't sold out? If memory serves me right, they recorded a song with the remnants of the fucking B-52s. Is that not selling out just a smidge?

REM and the B-52s are both from the same scene. They're old friends, they recorded a song together. Granted, it was one of the most annoying songs ever. If anything, the sellout point with them was moving away from the college kids and more toward stuff your mom would like. So yeah, they did sell out a smidge.

U2 once played the Aardvark in Ft. Worth.....

one day you will say:

17 Hands High once played J. Gilligans, and...oh who am I kidding...what are you offering Somey?
We don't play for free anymore, and we are MUCH improved, with yours truly taking on more and more of the singing duties...fuck acoustics, if you got the pipes, it's all good.

Thanks for coming and stay tuned for more shows..new shows MIGHT include Purple Rain, and more Cult, and KISS..
