We have a bunch of threads dedicated to particular TV shows and a reality TV show thread but no regular TV show thread so here it is. Talk TV here.

I watched the first season(2004) of the British version Shameless the weekend (only 7 eps). Showtime has a remake on right now with William H Macy. The British version is good stuff. I rate it better than Skins but that's no knock on Skins. At least it's no knock on Skins 1&2. Yesterday I found out that the later seasons haven't been released on DVD in our region and probably won't be.
I wonder if buying an all region DVD player is worth it. Does anybody have any experience with them?

Also, tomorrow night is the series finale of Friday Night Lights. I know almost all of you don't give a shit but once again I'm gonna say it's one of the better shows on TV. Go watch season 1 on DVD and tell me I'm wrong.

I saw a little bit of Glee for the first time the other night after the Super Bowl. Anyone care to explain that whole phenomenon? Jane Lynch is funny, but the rest is Godawful stupid and gay.

I'm also wondering how long it'll be before Walt shows up on Wipeout.

I have 21 episodes of Breaking Bad on my DVR that I'm going to start watching soon. I've been DVRing the Wire on channel 101 and somehow that's become a stop down again for me. They just moved the hoppers to Hamsterdam and Avon got out of jail.

So Fox is coming out with a new show this fall and it looks very land of the lost. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terra_Nova_(TV_series)I will watch and it will fail after 1 season. At least they will show the whole season since Fox is reportedly spending $4 mill and episode. Also Steven Speilberg is the ex. producer.

I know I'm way behind the curve on this, but IFC started showing 2 episodes of Arrested Development on Mondays at the beginning of the year. How did I miss this when it was new? Does it have staying power because I've never laughed as much at a show as I have during the first 10 or so episodes? 2 story lines that I hope persist: Tobias being a "never nude" and Buster banging his mom's best friend.

It never lets up. The show was absolute genius. And the stuff Tobias gets into just gets more and more ridiculous.

There's an episode where Martin Short brings everything to a screeching halt, but otherwise you're right.

It's about 500 spots above Crash right behind Speed 2: Cruise Control.

You can't spoil comedies unless you give away all the jokes and punchlines.

Besides this is the tv talk thread in which we talk about tv. While I may make recommendations, spoilers are going to happen. If it were the TV recommendation thread I would think it odd to spoil a TV show that I just recommended but I guess I wouldn't expect you to understand that.

You don't like the musical so you won't like Glee. You are correct, it's a stupid gay sitcom with shallow characters and even shallower plot lines. Sue Sylvester and the principle are the only thing good about the show outside of the music. A lot of the music sucks, but some of it is not bad.

I couldn't quit laughing when he sold his wedding ring and bought leather s&m gear to get Maisy to think he's cool.
