If the team has faith in a kicker and the kicker comes through, it can be beneficial. It can help in close games if you know your kicker is automatic. This was not a close game.

do the Cowboys need a dependable kicker? - yes does what Buehler does really warrant using up that slot in the roster when you could probably be better suited with one more O-line guy, or another linebacker? - no (so on that point, yes, you're right) as far as importance on the list of things to address? down there, below thinking about whether or not Garrett should continue here. I happen to think Garrett gets too gun shy too quickly in a game. His play calling is just...dumb at times. If your QB gets happy feet like Romo did early on, you'd want to think your OC isn't as scared shitless as your QB. Garrett seems to get all scared shitless like a damned player. I don't know who out there you'd get to replace him with, but I think it's time for Garrett to go, buddeh.
