I heard that story and wondered if he jumped off the equivalent of the High Five.

Nearly every sappy song in the 70s was written by this guy along with Burt Bacharach.

Hal David

Young Hoob the piano student was very familiar with his work. Nearly every song in the songbook was written by these guys.

Sun Myung Moon

This reminds me of the chorus of a Christian song called, "Oh Buddha," which was sung by the Imperials in 1979.

No, it won't be old Buddha that's sitting on the throne
And it won't be old Mohammed that's calling us Home
And it won't be Hare Krishna that plays that trumpet tune
And we're going to see The Son not Reverend Moon!

Steroids?

I hope he got over his fear of the dark.

That must've been a tough thing to fear since he probably grew up around darks.

Really disappointed that I didn't pick Rick Majerus for the dead pool. That one was obvious.

Former Rangers owner Brad Corbett dies.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/texas- ... 8-days.ece

For teenaged Hoob, this guy was horrible. He visioned himself as a wheeler-dealer, a George Steinbrenner type. I hated him because he was forever trading off people that I liked. What I didn't find out until much later was, his business was having trouble, and this affected the Rangers in his last couple of years.

As a college sophomore, I lived in the dorms at NTSU. My roommate had a blue bumper sticker on the door that read, "Trade Corbett!" I would hear people pass by, look at the sticker, and say out loud, "yeah, man. I agree with that." I knew they had seen the sticker and knew what it meant.

I was happy when he sold the franchise to Eddie Chiles. That happiness was short-lived. Really, the Rangers have had only a couple of good owners in their entire history.

Corbett got a mention in the American Spectator, a conservative magazine.

My favorite segment of the week was the Head Line talking about the death of Alvin Lee. I was only 10 when Woodstock happened and didn't know any of the bands that played it. Any music I heard from it came from listening to the Zoo 5 years later.

One night, a 15 year old Hoob fell asleep with the radio on, and "I'm Goin' Home" came on at 3:30 in the morning. I woke up as it began and listened to it and wondered what the hell I just heard. I was hooked, and I bought the Goin' Home! album as soon as I could mow enough yards to pay for it.

Hearing Rhyner talk about Alvin Lee was wonderful. His description of "I'm Goin' Home" was spot on. To my surprise, even Danny was complimentary of his guitar playing. Doo-doo Danny was right for once.

The next morning, Bo and Jim played it on the morning show, and it reminded me of how stale classic rock has become. I bet somebody at the station was pissed off because one playing of Heart's "Magic Man" didn't happen because this song played instead.

That's not really a lack of faith, that's more a lack of knowledge or lack of sharing information. So while I will give you +1 for the effort, I have to take it away for the execution.

I was kind of implying that the cause of death is obvious (force choke) but the article won't admit it because they don't believe in the ancient Jedi religion but none of that matters now because I'm having to explain it and I'm just all full of give up.
