I have had my iphone for roughly a week and half now and it is fucking nice.

Only negative is the battery life isn't the greatest but it is very cool. One of the apps i downloaded is from the zillow.com and it works with the GPS to tell you what the houses in neighbor cost.

The biggest difference between the jesus phone and my old shitty '98 sprint phone is when I dropped the jesus phone on the floor I shit my pants and pee a little bit at the same time.

turn off bluetooth when you're not using it (unless you have a reason to be discoverable 24/7), check the backlighting and brightness, etc. There are little things you can do to increase battery life. I rarely have a problem with mine. But i almost never use the ipod feature.

oh and it's worth the money to get one of those little iphone sleeves and some screencovers. That'll eliminate the dropping and scratching issue.

I'm with Sagger. Turn off bluetooth cuz you would look like a took if you used it anyway and check your brightness. I tweaked mine and I can go all day long with no problems. That's right ladies. I still have push mail activated and it still works fine. I use mine for work non-stop so go to ebay and spend $5 for a car charger rather than spending $20 at an ATT store.

I've got an inverter in my truck I keep the wall charger plugged into. I have an extra usb cable to charge the phone via laptop at the house. Saves me from having to buy a car charger every time I get a new phone.

The screen shields are a must. Cle is right Zagg is the best, but they are pretty costly. A few other companies claim to use the same material but cost 1/4 of the Zagg. I think Zagg includes a squegee and soap solution for install though. Plus they have a lifetime guarantee that people swear by.

I love that new golf course app on the iphone. Makes me want to get one but I'd like to try that app first as it's a big selling point for me. I really don't want to switch providers tho. Has anyone every used HTC phones? The Hero looks pretty cool.

I hear you can get refurb 3Gs for $50 with a 2 year contract. I don't know if that's just for new customers tho.

If you're going to get one, get the 3GS. Faster hardware, more capacity, built in compass, blah blah blah. You're gonna have it for 2 years, might as well spend the extra $150 and get the top of the line.

http://gizmodo.com/5490299/android-surges-while-the-iphone-stalls-out

RIM remains the leader in the smartphone space, with nearly half the market using BlackBerries. Apple's 25.1% share is undeniably impressive, but only growing .3 percentage points (relative to the market) means this summer's impending iPhone 4 release can't come soon enough for Cupertino. Either that or a whole mess of patent lawsuit wins.

The losers, predictably: Palm, whose business model is collapsing before our eyes, and Microsoft, whose sitting duck WinMo 6.5 OS is in the process of being totally scrapped.

Maybe if they didn't limit themselves to one carrier then they wouldn't be stalling out.

Author:  Sweet Greggo [ Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:15 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: thinking about buying an iphone

Palm's worst enemy is themselves. Their advertising for the Pre is some of the worst TV I've ever seen. How the hell did that creepy chick get approved? Their marketing manager should be fired, rehired, then fired again for double humility. Now Verizon is advertising it as a "mom phone"... wtf? In all seriousness, WebOS is hands down the strongest OS on the market, esp for business users, socialites and people on the go. Sprint has had the best commercials for Palm so far, but they are so weak themselves it's apparently not helping.

MS may not get all of their business back but WinMo7 will help. That OS looks beautiful, and sharing apps and games on your phone/pc/xbox is going to be a pretty good selling point.

Do you not use it for email? I no longer have to stay tethered to my desk to respond to customers. I can be on the course or at the bar and I'm TCB and no ones the wiser.
