I'm on day 3 also and I don't go back until the 7th, though I need to be available on the 5th and 6th.  I had some of that Buffalo Butt that you recommended last night. I like their Winter Ale better. Their bourbon barrel winter ale is even better, but impossible to find. Also caught up on season 4 of Homeland over the last 3 nights. It's really intense. Watching How the Universe Works right now. No mention of God yet. |

Tomorrow starts 9 days off for me, which is a record for me for the Xmas season. I used to stick around and let the people with kids and those that have to travel to see family take off. Eh, fuck all that. The first 5 days are pretty action packed with kid/fam activities, but I intend to do as little as possible the last 4 days. |

I took off on Thursday and go back the 5th. Every day has been shopping and unpacking/cleaning. Yesterday I installed blinds on 3 out of 10 bare windows in the new house. Today I gotta get the groceries for Thursday. I'll be hosting xmas dinner at noon. On the menu: Smoked sausage in the chili sauce/grape jelly mixture, au gratin potatoes, corn on the cob, cole slaw, the wifey's world famous frijoles and her tia's world famous tamales. I'll be smoking a turkey that I'm praying will be thawed out by tonight so I can brine the mofo. Should be fun. |

Last year it was suggested that we all bring dishes so my aged mom won't have to cook so much. I was instructed to figure out how to make green bean casserole. Looked it up, made it, and it was a hit. It's not that hard. Made it again for Thanksgiving. Accidentally bought cheese-flavored french fried onions, and it was a super-duper hit. I can only find the regular fried onions this time. But that's ok. Although it is not requested, I usually make deviled eggs, and I will do it again this year. Mine are really simple: brown yard eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, bacon, paprika. Yum. |

There's a somey sized butt dent in my couch. I didn't move much, between Game of Thrones, movies and football. I drank way too much, mostly wine, so I think I'm getting a sinus infection. I decided to go ahead and come in the office today because I'm bored out of my mind, but I'll probably leave around lunch time and come back on Wednesday. |

Mrs. bigboy and I are taking our 4th trip to NYC in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to a trip where we don't have to spend a fortune on any real tourist traps (we're going to the 9/11 Museum, but that's about it). I will instead be spending my money on copious amounts of awesome food and drink. And we're seeing U2 at Madison Square Garden. |

It's vacation day 1.Off the next 10 days. I volunteered to be the guy who goes in to make sure there are no fires burning the week of new years. That week is typically half day Monday, one hour Tuesday, check email from home Wednesday, so essentially that's another week off. And yes, it's 6am and I'm already fucking awake. |

I've only driven/ridden through NC when I was a kid. I don't know how much I'd really enjoy it there since that's primo NASCAR country. Right now we really like Colorado bit were not about to go there this time of year. |

My nephew got married in Islamadora (The Keys) in Florida earlier this month. Mrs. Ich and I flew to Miami then rented a car. Although I lived in Florida as a kid in the 60s this was my first foray into Miami and The Keys. Really enjoyed doing nothing but eating seafood and chasing Mrs. Ich around the resort. It's nirvana laying in a hammock on the beach with a pretty blonde. Whenever the hammock stopped rocking I'd just reach down and tickle Mrs. Ich's ribs. Not only did that get the hammock moving it also made her butt wiggle, so that was a lot of fun.... To review, the Keys are cool. |
