My only reasoning is that the Joker isn't a world-ender type. He may bring chaos to the city, but Magneto wants to enslave or destroy all non-mutants. I agree that he is a far more well-known villain, though.

He may be only based in the city, but if you go by regional destruction logic then someone like Galactus would be number one. I just think the guy is the purest form of evil that we have in comics (or at least, the most well known example). He's always been one of my favorites.

The preview doesn't spark my interest much. Thor was never one of my favorites, but I'm a sucker for a good comic book movie. Plus I'm MFL (marvel for life) so I support Stan Lee's efforts. I hope the movie is better than what I've seen so far.

Hey, is the dude who played Human Torch also playing Captain America? Are they just not acknowledging the FF movies? If so, I can't blame them.

What the fuck?

I remember seeing my grandma's grey haired pussy hanging out of the bottom of her robe after she got out of the shower and didn’t know that it was tucked into the belt. It looked like some month old roast beef with an SOS pad on top of it. I will never forget that sight. I'm surprised I turned out a heterosexual. That is something that I wish I hadn't seen.

I feel the same way about reading this.

Yes. Only the movies that are being made by Marvel Studios are part of the continuity. These are charcters they still have the movie rights to. As far as this Marvel universe is concerned Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four don't exist.

They also announced at ComicCon that Mark Ruffalo is replacing Ed Norton as the Hulk and and have brought in Jeremy Renner (the Hurt Locker) to play Hawkeye.

Warner Bros. owns DC comics. So they do not have to acquire the rights to any of the characters to make movies. Yet they can't get together and make a Justice League movie. They could make a Batman/Superman movie (though I wouldn't want one with this incarnation of Batman). They could combine any of the already well-known heroes they want. But instead, they make Jonah Hex. And Marvel comes along and figures out how to make the Avengers.

Marvel is now owned by Disney and they will probably be pretty aggressive in trying to get those other characters back. They tried to get Spider Man when the option was ending at Sony but they renewed it and are rebooting the franchise for some reason. Spider Man came out in 2002 and we're going to have a remake of it in 2011. Hooray.

so what's the problem with Warner Bros? I'd think handling the Justice League would be easy for them. WTF?

Post subject:  Re: Diello's Dork Blog

One of the problems as that the characters sort of get distributed out to producers who then don't want to cooperate/share money with others.

Prior to Batman Begins, there was a big push for a Wolfgang Petersen-directed Batman/Superman movie. But the long-stalled Superman Lives project had its own producer who refused to participate. I think it's Jon Peters? Look up some of the horror stories about his meddling with Superman over the years. In like 96-97 Kevin Smith had written the script with Robert Rodriguez to direct. But Peters kept pushing his own ideas which included Superman in a black trenchcoat, spending most of the movie without his powers, a scene involving him fighting a polar bear, and he wanted Lex Luthor to have a gay robot sidekick (to be played by Dwight X from Chasing Amy--seriously). Then Tim Burton came aboard and jettisoned Smith's work and signed Nicolas Cage to play Superman. Hell, now Zack Snyder is directing the new Man of Steel.

There's a group that's been trying to get a Wonder Woman movie made. They spin their wheels but won't give in.

Hell, before Ang Lee signed on to make the Hulk, they'd spent $20 million on prosthetic tests and CGI tests before there was even a director or script. These people are stupid with money and ego.
