The obstacles:

1. Time is the biggest issue. Between my stupid ass job and being in a spare band, finding time to ride or lift is extremely difficult.
2. I like beer.
3. Jack in the Box breakfasts.

I've got the following going for me:
1. I am terrified of a fat-related illness like a stroke or heart attack. It motivates me.
2. Riding or running isn't that big of a deal.
3. I own a Bow Flex.
4. Eating right for lunch and dinner is easy for me. It's breakfast that is the problem.

I predict this thread will have three real entries before I give up.

1. yeh, but there's some satisfaction in knowing "HA! I *was* gonna be mowing the yard right now, but fuck that! I'm goin' 17 mph on meh bike!"
2. That one's my downfall, as well. :(
3. Ditto. The extreme sausage breakfast is gonna cause me to stroke out.

Good Lord, I am hungry.

Got up extremely early, made breakfast at home, took a supplement, then lifted. Supplement is 1/3 teaspoon of creatine. Lifting was an upper body workout.

Ate some Cheerios at my desk when I got to work. Because of the supplement and all the water that has to be consumed with it, I need a porta potty in the corner of my classroom.

Somebody feed me. Please.

You seem to know what you are doing. I have hit a wall, I cannot lose any more weight. Apparently your body gets used to your workout if you do the same thing every night, which is bullshit because if my body was getting used to it it wouldn't hurt so much. Anywho I recently cut out all sodas and energy drinks in an effort to lose more, but I'm not seeing results yet. in closing, Fuck getting in shape.

Hey, now. Two mornings in a row. Breakfast, supplement, lift. I have two lifting routines. Routine number two is a lower body series.

Would have liked to have taken the bike to work yesterday, then stopped off after work to ride on a nearby trail. Didn't do it because I was sure it would rain. It didn't rain until after I had gone to bed, dang it.

One more entry before I quit this thing.

My last entry before I quit working out.

Did the routine again, did the upper body lift. Almost threw up a couple of times, not sure if it was the supplement, breakfast, or over-hydration, or something else. It reminds me of a story.

A couple of years ago I decided to take creatine, and I was never going to let me wife know. All was going well, and after a couple of days I already could tell the difference. However, I misread the directions and was taking about four or five times too much of the stuff.

After five days, it caught up with me and I had to call in sick from work because I felt so bad. Because I thought I might die, I had to admit to my wife what I had been doing. Her response? Hoob, if you live through this, I'm gonna kick your ass.

By the way, it's gonna be 70 tomorrow, so riding is a possibility, right?

Weather.com says wind gusts of 40 mph. Crap.

Did not work out yesterday.

Increased weights today, did the upper workout. Kinda hit the wall during the second set, but I made it through all three and am glad I did.

By the way, the last workout song that my MacFagBook played today was Gino Vanelli's "Black Cars" from 1985.

This is a great example of how ol' Hoob can fuck things up.

Got up this morning, did workout number two, and did a great job of it. It was a back, hips, and legs workout and it went really well.

After I was done, I bent down to pick up my water bottle and threw my fucking back out. It hurts like hell, and I'm not going to be able to do anything for a week or two.

This pisses me off so much.

Since I was able to lift various pieces of band gear on Saturday with no problem, I figured I could work out today. Did a light workout, no injuries. Did the normal breakfast and supplement thing as well.

First 80s song on the MacFagBook today was Manic Monday by the Bangles.

Put the bike on the trainer and rode for 30 minutes while watching sports on TV. Decided that I could get on the streets on Dendon and ended up putting 10.5 miles on it.

Included in my scenic ride was a search for a house in which I woke up in January 1985. It was one of those "what the hell am I doing here" moments. That house is gone now, and a UNT frat house is in its place. Also went through the Fry Street area.

It was a good experience, but my ass hurts now.

It seems like everything on the Hoob body is going wrong these days. I am starting to have problems all over. And under.

So today I did the only thing I could do: get on the bike and see if that killed me. But I went 16 miles, lived, didn't even have any flats. Dang that wind was horrible. It got to the point where I couldn't take a hand off of the handlebars and get a drink.

I really have to ride more often to get any real benefit from it. Let's see if I can go again tomorrow.

Went 22.4 miles today, not as difficult this time because the wind wasn't as evil.

However, for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to mow and edge my neighbor's lawn after that. I'm nearly dead now, Chuck.

On a whim I decided to run tonight. Ended up going 2 miles, which ain't bad for an old guy who is not in shape. My pace was really good and I am happy about the whole thing.

I think I'll go again tomorrow night.

I like running a lot more than riding, but riding doesn't hurt my feet, knees, hips or back like running does.

I tried running myself but I found that it is a bitch to drink Crown and Coke whilst doing it so now I pretty much just sit and drink it. It's more funerer that way.

My God I'm hardly alive. I think Styx said that in Blue Collar Man.

After lifting today, I thought it would be ok to ride 21 miles on the trail. About 14 miles in, I was in trouble. By the time I got to the end, I had downshifted about 5 gears and was barely cracking 12 mph.

I went 12 miles yesterday with no problem and thought I could do the whole trail today. What a dummy I am.

Oh, I saw 5 other riders, 2 cute girls walking dogs (not together), 4 armadillos, and a bunny rabbit. I also bought a new helmet today.

Thank you dear Lord for giving me the ability to make it home.

I've been there. There's nothing like being 15 miles from home and realizing you're gassed on the bike to invoke terror.

I carry my cell & my wallet in a ziploc bag in my jersey pocket so worst case I can call a cab, but it's still not a pleasant thought when you're gassed in the middle of White Rock Trail and the nearest road is close to a mile away.

the area between the lake and just south of Fair Oaks is fun when it's getting late and you're tired.

Yep, and yep. I had a flat once on my road bike, didn't have a spare. By the way, I saw a guy doing that on Saturday in the exact place where it happened to me.

On trail I was on yesterday, it's a rock and dirt road out in the woods and cars can't drive out there.

be careful with that shit. white rock creek likes to get out of it's banks real easy. I've seen royal oaks and that park area just southeast of the 75 crossing under water many times.
