The Great American Hero on Lemmon. They make good sandwiches. It starts with the bread. Their bread is top notch. I had the #13, the Heroletta, which is just like a muffuletta except different. It was on cheesy jalapeño bread. I also had a fruit cup. They were both delicious.

Twist: while I was in line the owner dude gave me a free pickle sample to snack on. That's right, free---he didn't even charge a nickel for the pickle. It was good and made me tickled to get a free pickle.

Pastrami Reuben

I'm not a big sauerkraut guy but it was good on this sammich. The taste didn't overwhelm. It was more cheese and dressing and pastrami. Ate at Deli-News off Campbell and Preston in Plano/Richardson/Dallas. Not sure which it is. Would eat there again.

Twist: Ate it open-faced with a knife and fork because this was one mother of a sammich.

Holy hell, I just looked at their menu. That's a real full blown New York deli that even serves egg creams. I've been looking for one of those around here for years.

Club sandwich from Goodfriend Package, an across the street offshoot of Goodfriend Beergarden & Burger House. A kickass sandwich was had. The bacon stood out. They carve it themselves from blocks of pork belly. Another nice touch: sandwiches are wrapped and presented in butcher paper. Would eat here again.

I have a cousin who is veggie except for the steak she eats 1-2 times a year, and people still give her shit for not being vegetarian.

Just say "vegetable based diet" or tell people to fuck right off

I had tacos today at Taco Ocho in Richardson. One was a shredded beef topped with jicama slaw. I had no idea what a jicama is. I recall seeing the word at Sprout's before but I didn't investigate further. Apparently it's some sort of vegetable. It was good. I also had a jalopeno pork taco. It wasn't too spicy and was even better. I would eat there again.

Was covering a high school track meet tonight, and the PA announcer said they had sausage wraps for a dollar. Later on, I passed by the concession stand and said I'd like to try one. It was a Hillshire Farms type sausage wiener wrapped in a fucking tortilla. I should have stayed away from that.

I have visited high school concession stands for 20 years, and the food at these things is just consistently awful. During football season last fall, I had a burger at some place and thought to myself, 'wow, this is actually pretty good' because it is so damn damn rare for that to happen.

I like to make a big hill of catsup when I eat burgers and o rings. Each bite gets dipped in ketchup. Do you like catsup? I love ketchup.

I like it well enough. I think I used about 2 packets on my rings. No ketchup on the burger.

Any meal that includes deviled eggs is a success. And that includes breakfast. I made a batch tonight.

I too, like to dip my burger in ketchup. It works really well will the QPwC, but it's messy with the shredded lettuce you get with Whataburger.

I just ate an apple and as a twist I dipped it in chickfila sauce. It wasn't near as good as I thought it would be.

I just got back from 10 days in England where I ate my way through a pile of pies, fish and chips, curries galore, bacon and eggs, and loads of other fantastic things. Frigging awesome.

Black pudding, aka blood sausage, is a staple food where I grew up. I remember my mum used to make a big pile of them and we demolished them. She used to cook hearts, tongue, kidneys and liver a lot too. I don't eat any of that shit anymore (except a bit of kidney in a pie). Even back then I refused to eat tripe. But english food in general has a really bad rep over here.

I've tried blood sausage but I'd be willing at least once. I think I might enjoy it.

I had some tablitas last night. Good stuff.

I don't love tablitas, though I'm sure I cooked them wrong.

I would try blood sausage. My neighbor is British and he doesn't miss the food.

To cook tablitas: Get your grill hot. This is important. The grill part. Tablitas HAVE to be grilled, preferably with carcoal. It's fairly difficult to eat so the flavor has to be worth it. Get your grill hot. Lay your tablitas over the coals. Wait one minute and turn over. Wait another minute and you're done. They don't take long to cook since they're son thin. Now quickly eat them all before everyone comes out after 10 minutes looking for their steak. Tell them the dog must have grabbed it or something. It's a good excuse because by that time your dog should be gnawing on the bones.

Man, I feel like when they first arrived in Plano when I was in high school, they were great, but it's been nothing but disappointment every visit since
