The new Chevy Volt

Anyone catch this story? The car itself looks pretty nice. No word on the price tag yet. I'm hoping this thing is priced affordable enough to where your average joe can get their hands on one. This could be a huge boost to the american car industry.

Go chevy!!! :fist:

unfortunately, it is still american, so it will be in the shop after 30K miles, never make it to 100k, and the value will fall like the Hindenburg

Good for them. I don't care who gets the credit just as long as it gets going.

:babyarm: I told the wife last night after seeing the story that in 2 years the japs will have a more efficient, better looking, cheaper model that is 3 times more durable. But hey, maybe Nissan will build a plant in Flint and make everyone feel better for buying japanese.

Why does everyone make a big deal about buying American cars? Pick up any item you have purchased and 90% is made in Asia.

Spelling America with a K now, huh?

I think it's important to support our domestic companies when we can. Of course, the companies themselves have to have a product competitive enough to make buying it a sound decision.

How all of this works economically, I dunno. Does America benefit more from buying a Chevy Blazer built in Arlington vs a Toyota Camry built in Virginia? I don't know the accurate answer, but my gut says yes.

95 Wrangler with 150k miles and a 2000 Wrangler with 100k. Only repair of significance for either was a radiator that wa sunder warranty. Both soft-tops had to be replaced, but no major engine problems. You might try changing the oil every now and then.

Nope. 98 Cavalier. It's not sexy, but it's a hell of a car and it's been paid off for 6 years. Only thing that it's ever needed was minor warranty work and a new radiator and water pump.
