that comment was based on cods explanation (and other conservative opinions i've read) claiming that because of china and other countries becoming more industrial it has put a strain on the supply driving up the price. personally i didn't buy into that theory, for the 'simple' fact that every time i go to the gas station, they have gas. and i've not read one single story stating that refineries do not have enough crude to make the gasoline. to me, that says there was never a supply problem. something else is driving up the cost of this shit.

as far as futures investors, i've read reports that say they're driving up the cost by 10-70%. this whole situation has enron written all over it.

oh, and :fu:

I'm not debating whether there is a supply problem or not but the rationale of the gas station having gas ever time you go doesn't imply there's not a supply problem.

I have no idea what that run on sentence means. Maybe I'm just not as smart as I think I am.

I *think* he was saying that gas stations never run out of gas, so there is not a supply problem.

o-k. Since I don't care enough to argue, I won't throw out that I think that's shortsighted to say. So, f me.

That what I was saying. Wally was commenting on Ted's runon, which stated that even though gas stations have gasoline readily available, doesn't necessarily mean that there is not a supply problem.

That's correct. So it's you that Walt thinks is shortsighted, not terd, but only according to Cods theories?

well apparently there's a dispute as to how this job should be executed. she's the boss, so she needs to come down here and settle it. while she's here there's a few other things that could use her attention.

Did you know there are memory cards that have built-in wifi?

They can automatically upload data (pics, files, whatever) just by passing a hotspot. Neat! Of course, it can also be used to track your movements. Ich'll love that.

The story is interesting, but one little paragraph is what really got my attention:

"An eerie case occurred last month, when a Japanese man set up a hidden camera because food was disappearing from his kitchen. While he was out, the camera sent pictures to his mobile phone of the intruder — an unknown woman living secretly in his closet."

:boggle:  :boggle:

To be honest, that's kinda typical behavior in Japan.

republicans block windfall tax bill for big oil

surprise, surfuckingprise.

also on the bill:

- if big oil would take their "unreasonable" profits and invest into alternate energy sources, they would not be taxed.

- open the door on regulating traders

- Make oil and gas price gouging a federal crime, with stiff penalties of up to $5 million during a presidentially declared energy emergency.

- Authorize the Justice Department to bring charges of price fixing against countries that belong to the OPEC oil cartel.

I haven't really been in favor of a windfall tax unless it from from an increased percentage profit, but to force big oil to invest in alternate energy is a good idea. Of course, something like this bill doesn't have a chance in hell of passing until we vote the republicans out.
