Fargo and Better Call Saul pleases me greatly. Never tried Silicon Valley.

I've been binging on Shut Eye, a Hulu original lately. It's pretty ok, a decent placeholder until the better series kick off in April. It has gypsies and grifters running psychic card reader type scams. Both Gerhardt brothers from Fargo 2 are in it and Jeffrey Donovan is why it's watchable. Hulu can be a pain in the ass. It took 3 times before it loaded last night.

I oversold the hell out of shut eye. It really turds out. I do kinda like the new John Lithgow court case mockumentary only because of John Lithgow.

Must watch TV Sunday. Megyn Kelly's Show. It should be good.

I started Breaking Bad a few weeks ago and finished it last night. I've always held The Sopranos up as my favorite show, but season 4 of Breaking Bad is better than any single season of The Sopranos. (For the record, Sopranos seasons 1 and 2 are 1a and 1b with 5 and 6 part 2 rounding out the top 3.)

I was thinking about jumping straight into Better Call Saul, but I think I need a break from that crew. I'm going to catch up on The Leftovers and maybe try House of Cards.

Saul has been great. So has Fargo.

Started on The Leftovers recently and that's really good too.

The Handmaid's Tale is also good.

House of Cards is still watchable and probably a top 10 drama of mine, but I feel like it's going overboard with the shock value.

I have started watching 'Get Shorty' on Epix, it has started off really well and looks set to be a top 5 series for the year. It has Chris O'Dowd from the IT Crowd, the other guy from the IT Crowd isn't in it though.

I'm on season 3 of "Longmire" on Netflix. Enjoying the story lines and they sure don't mind killing central characters. Just wish there were boobies.

After wrapping up season 2, I can say with confidence that Riverdale is hands down the most ridiculous teen drama show I've ever watched. Comically bad. Would recommend. Characters and setting based on the Archie Andrews comic.

Someone I work with recommended Riverdale and I gave the first episode a shot. It's awful. Makes the acting in the Twilight movies look Academy Award worthy bad.

I just started Better Call Saul. I have high hopes for it.

Post subject:  Re: TV Talk

My 14 year old is into Riverdale. I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of it but she's filled me in on some of the plot. I find it very odd that the people that own Archie would allow such a show, to be honest. I used to read of Archie's adventures in Spire Christian Comics when I was a kid, where every story ended with a moral and a bible verse. I remember being uncomfortable reading that I should give 10% of my earnings to the church. Even as a kid I knew that was entirely too much for a church to expect.

It just seems weird a comic that was always geared towards pre-teen kids has been turned into a teen-sex soap opera.

I remember the Archie comics being really wholesome, but I do not remember a religious theme. I thought both Betty and Veronica were hot but Veronica did more for me.

The morally themed Goofus and Gallant comic found in Highlights was the comic that would yank a knot in my ass when I was a kid.

Post subject:  Re: TV Talk

Not all Archie comics were christian themed, just the ones from Spire.

In my googling I see some of these comics are now worth hundreds of dollars. I had dozens of them at my grandparents. We threw them out when we cleaned out her house. They were pretty worn because they were shared by all of the cousins, but they may have actually been worth something.

Counterpart on Starz is really good so far. Pacing, mood, and feel is similar to Mr Robot. I'm about 4 episodes down. J K Simmons is the lead guy. He's really good.

I've never read a Tom Clancy book so I can't tell you if they're better than the movie on Prime starring Jim Halpert or not, but the show is entertaining enough. Credit mostly to ol Bunk Mooreland, Jim's partner.

Just wrapped up Mozart in the Jungle on Prime. It's A+ and a good watch with a lover. It lasted 4 seasons and we got about a month's worth of viewing out of it. 30 minute episodes.

I'm about 2 episodes into The First on Hulu and it's pretty good so far. It's a not so distant future drama about the ramp up to a manned mission to Mars. It's The Martian without the clever humor, but with some "This Is Us" drama. Sean Penn is decent as the brooding mission commander that was sent home to deal with his estranged daughter. My biggest beef is that the CGI in the first episode is a little on the cheesy side. Not Phantom Menace bad, but it looks a tad cartoonish.
