Weird. I'm positive I hit the edit button. I didn't retype that whole thing.

I watched 12 Years a Slave. It was good.

Agreed, it was good. Suprisingly, Brad Pitt was the worst part for me.

Did it deserve to win?

Probably. It was better than Gravity and Wolf of Wall Street. I had a problem with Brad Pitt too. He was the only weak part of the film.

Someone looked up every Best Picture nominee on Rotten Tomatoes and listed who won versus who should have one:

http://imgur.com/gallery/jZQWl

1994 was the biggest surprise. Quiz Show over Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction. Good movie, but not all that much better than those 2 in my opinion.

Yeah but with the #metoo movement in full swing there was no way they were going to give the BM to a rich white guy. They damn sure wasn't going to give it to a woman either, so enter foreign/brown/butnotreallybrown/whiteenoughforme guy.

"Everytime somebody is driving somebody, I lose." - Spike Lee

Side note: Blackkklansman was my favorite movie of the 6 nominations I've seen. (Haven't seen Vice or Roma)

It was probably my favorite of the 7 I saw (didn't see A Star Is Born.) None of them were better than Into the Spider-Verse.

I saw all but Little Women and Ford v Ferrari. I would've been fine with any of the others winning but Parasite was fuckin' yeah.

I watched JoJo Rabbit last night. I think i'd give it the slight nod over Parasite but they were both my favorite movies of the year. I didn't know what to expect, but Jojo Rabbit was equally as heartwarming as it was hilarious. Fantastic movie.

It's nice to see Hollywood recognize such a marginalized section of society and finally nominate a movie where butt-plugs play such a major role.

I've seen 4 so far. I rank them thusly:

1. Everything Everywhere All at Once
2. The Banshees of Inisherin
3. All Quiet on the Western Front
4. Tar

1. Everything Everywhere All at Once
2. The Banshees of Inisherin
3. All Quiet on the Western Front
4. Tar
5. Triangle of Sadness - The middle section is pretty great, but it takes a while to get going and drags at the end. There's been a lot of these "eat the rich" stories going on in entertainment lately. Capitalist Cods would not approve.

Big dropoff here...6. Elvis - It's more a bio of Colonel Tom Parker. We learn jack shit about Elvis. It's among the worst BP nominees ever. Crash is better.

Watched Top Gun: John McCain and I don't get it. Super-cartoony and predictable with numerous threads that went nowhere. Every major character dilemma can be solved by playing some weird version of football on a beach.

Still, they didn't kill the donkey, so thumbs up.

1. Everything Everywhere All at Once
2. The Fabelmans - It's all worth it for David Lynch's cameo at the end.
3. The Banshees of Inisherin
4. All Quiet on the Western Front
5. Tar
6. Triangle of Sadness
7. Elvis

I'm done here. Not interested in the rest. I'll only watch if one of them wins.

I never much cared for the first Top Gun even though I was 15 and its target demographic at the time. It was slicker than owl shit, but dumb and predictable.

The first Avatar was awesome to watch in the theater, but didn't hold up at home. I've heard the new one is the same and I don't feel like going to the theater.

Women Talking is still only playing in theaters. See Avatar above.

I watch women talking in my house every day, so I’ll probably pass on the movie.

Top Gun is fun and I definitely liked it, but not Best Picture worthy. I was shocked when it was nominated. I liked the 1st one too, but I recognize the problems.

Not sure if I’ll ever watch Avatar.

Right now my list is:
1. Everything, Everywhere
2. Top Gun: Maverick
3. Elvis

I may watch Banshees or Tar today. Banshees is 40 minutes shorter, but I don’t handle donkey death very well.

Top Gun was fine for a popcorn flick but not Oscar material even if it did a lot to get people back in theaters.
