Creed was great. Sly should have won

Straight out of Compton was terrific. Reminded of high school and college. Just terrific. The black was justified to be pissed

I thought Creed was really good too. The boxing scenes were a little ridiculous, as always. Adrian was dead in the last Rocky movie, fyi. 4 stars.

I thought Straight Outta Compton was a bit overrated, but still good and the dude who played Eazy-E nailed it. 3.5 stars.

I didn't watch those this weekend though. I did watch the Peanuts movie this weekend. 2.75 stars.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice - Not near as bad as everyone is making it out to be. The Batman/Superman fight was pretty awesome. There were some things I scratched my head at and I think they're trying to catch up to the MCU too quickly, but it held my interest and I'll see whatever comes next.

I thought it was shitty. No geek reason, just thought it was mostly boring. But I did like that Negan and Maggie played Bruce Wayne's parents. I'm glad they settled the issues between them.

I haven't seen it yet. I was all ready to get into it after the 1st trailer, then the 2nd (or 3rd?) trailer showed Wonder Woman and some random DC enemy (I'm not a DC expert, forgive me Darwilleo). I was prepared to watch 2 1/2 hour of story building to a rumble of all rumbles, but it seems that's not the case. I'll wait until it comes out on video.

Suicide Squad looks good. The latest trailer actually made it move a little.

Band of Robbers: good movie and only a $.99 rental. Modern day take on Tom Sawyer and Hickleberry Finn.

Deadpool - Holy Mary mother of fictional Jesus, this was full throttle. I don't think there was an offensive joke series they didn't touch. Sitting next to a mom and her two boys (estimated ages 12 and 7) made for an uncomfortable experience. Not for kids. Or women. Or Christians. Fortunately, I'm none of those. Ryan Reynolds was perfect for that role and Brody's wife from Homeland was smokin' hot.

Watched it last night. Very entertained. I'd give it 91 out of 101.

Suicide Squad - Margot Robbie was great. Will Smith was really good. I was interested in Jared Leto's joker, but I didn't love it. I still have a crush on Leto though. Loved the soundtrack. That's all I have to say that was positive. El diablo's storyline sucked. Too mushy. They gave backstories that were too soft, imo. They've also tried to hard to catch up to the MCU too quickly and it has failed. It's sad when BvS was the best of the three movies.

A very generous 2.25 out of 5, but I'll still continue watching these. Sue me.

That's an astute point, Susie. Marvel is way ahead of them and DC fucked up by going too big too soon. Part of the reason the first Avengers worked is because we already knew most of the characters from previous films. They didn't have to waste time with introductions, background stories, etc. SS didn't have that so they rushed thru all the characters and I didn't give a shit about any of it. A feature length Harley Quinn origin story could've been a lot of fun. Deadshot too. Instead we got the cliff's notes versions of their stories. I'm done with the DC movies. I have no faith that they'll turn it around. Still down with Marvel though.

Jason Bourne - This has the same mood and feel as The Bourne Ultimatum as it is also directed by Paul Greengrass. Matt Damon bulked up like crazy for this film. Tommy Lee Jones is perfect as the new CIA foil and Julia Stiles is still extremely spankable. Plot remains the same, but it never gets old. Left it open for another sequel.

Nightcrawler - Jake Gyllenhall is a guy in LA who films murders and accidents and sells the footage to TV news. He's a real creep, this guy. It was good.

Snow on Tha Bluff: Is this flick on Netflix real or fake? Dog ass me. Cow shit I know? The opening scene hooked me though and I watched it all. In it, Atlanta gangster Curtis Snow robs some rich city folk in a drug deal and also gets their camera. From there he makes a movie about himself, his crew, and their gangster lifestyle. If you’re as square a saltine as I am, you’re going to miss fully 70% of this film’s dialog – Snow and his crew speak jive--loudly, quickly, and all on top of one another in a very difficult to decipher Atlanta ghetto slang. It's kinda like the snoop scenes from the wire. This is not, however, a flaw.

Hell or High Water: I read a thread on another board where posteurs kept raving about how great this movie was and better than No Country for Old Men so I watched it last night. It's no where close to being that good. I probably would've liked it more if I hadn't read the thread and went into it with an open mind. It was pretty good, although it was rife with West Texas stereotypes. Also, I had to fight through Jeff Bridges who isn't my favorite actor.

I skipped it in the theater because the trailers made it look like it was trying too hard. It's showing up in a few end of the year top 10 lists. Plus it's got Starman in it.

I'm going to see Rogue One Thursday night. Is anybody else? That's something I never would have done before you could reserve a specific seat in a theater weeks in advance. Reserved seating has completely changed my attitude toward seeing popular movies since I don't have to get there an hour early to get a good seat. Anywho.

Some reviewer in the New Yorker trashed the high holy hell out of Rogue One today and clearly revealed he was trolling Star Wars fans when he dropped this gem near the end:

"There’s none of the Shakespearean space politics, enticingly florid dialogue, or experiential thrills of the best of George Lucas’s “Star Wars” entries (“Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”)."
