The Artist - It didn't suck, but it was tough to get through. Never has 1 hour and 40 minutes gone by so slow. I do appreciate the effort though. I'll round it up to 3 stars just because they tried something different here.

Noah - I've heard people are mad because it wasn't an accurate depiction of how the great flood really went down. I thought it was fun. 4 stars.

Chef - Good cast and the story wasn't bad. I guess it's 4 stars. Jon Favreau wrote himself a nice little roll that fit his acting chops pretty well considering he was probably the worst actor on the set. The food side of things seemed pretty legit.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Maybe a top 5 comic book movie. I think the character is pretty lame, but I like how they've handled him here. Marvel's got a pretty good gimmick going. :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: .25 (out of 5)

Hangover III - They've gotten progressively worse. Nobody even had a hangover in this one.  (out of 5)

Bernie - A little late to the party here. This role was made for Jack Black. He was phenomenal. He and the interviews with the various people around Carthage made this movie for me. I have some (step) family in Carthage and they nailed the townsfolk. I loved the old Baptist hymns. Took me back to a simpler time.

Check out The One I Love. It is a romantic thriller starring the holistic midwife dude from The Mindy Project and that 5 head with a touch of Downs secretary chick from MadMen. She's oddly attractive. I knew nothing about this flick going in and thought it was really good. They are a couple in turmoil and their therapist sends them on a weekend getaway to a country home. Weirdness ensues in the guest cottage. In honor of Mike, whom I miss terribly.

The Hobbit 3 - A lot of words have been spewed over whether this book should have been made into 3 movies. After finishing the series, I can say yeah that 3rd movie wasn't necessary. They kill the dragon right away, then they fight over dwarf mountain, then the armies fight but the only fight that matters is between the dwarf leader and the orc leader because as soon as that's resolved, everyone quits and goes home. It was exciting in parts and boring in others. I was never that involved in any of it. And surely they could've cut some shit from the first two movies then crammed all this battle shit into the end of part two. The best part was seeing the new Mad Max trailer, which looks awesome.

Locke - Kinda interesting movie. Tom Hardy drives to London for 90 minutes. He talks to people on the phone and his life goes batshit. It all takes place inside the car. There's a lot of talk about concrete. Some people will hate this movie. I liked it.

I liked it. I like Tom Hardy. I just watched The Drop which had him and Gandolfini in it. It was good too. No mention of concrete.

Imitation Game

A lot better story than I thought it would be. Definitely Oscar worthy.

Chef--Fun little movie that will make you really hungry. Despite maybe the most abrupt happy ending I've ever seen, I really enjoyed it. Adds a level when you go into thinking it's all about Favreau's real life writing/directing career and not about food. Streaming on Netflix.

The Imitation Game--A little formulaic but really good. Like American Sniper except Alan Turing actually did something good.

Lucy - Had so much potential. It could have been a lot smarter. The makings of a really good movie were there, but it went out with a fizzle.

Obvious Child: this stars Jenny Slate who you may know as Jean Ralphio's twin sister on Parks and Rec and Jake Lacy who was Pete on the final couple years of The Office (jim's clone)

For most of the movie Jenny looks like a total root. Her friend looks even rootier. (I forget her name but she's like this generation's Joan Cusak) For a couple of scenes Jenny wears make up and cleans up nicely. Make-up, wow. Also, she also looks good in her panties and bra. Anywho, this is a non-traditional rom com in which the main characters have a fling, she gets pregnant, and boom, decides on an abortion. It's quite entertaining although her character is also a stand up comic and sometimes she tries to out-dude dudes with her humor and it's unappealing. Other than that, a very enjoyable movie about sinful premarital trysts and how murdering the outcome is a viable option and a foundation for love.

If you are a fan of Blake Edwards' Pink Panther movies, you'll love this film. Ralph Fiennes is greatness.
