My number one reason for hating this event:

I am SUPPOSED to like it.

And if I don't like it, I am a fat uneducated American simpleton who probably likes NASCAR and armored wankball.

I love the World Cup. It only comes around every 4 years where Nascar is every week. It's not even on network TV. Come on Hoob. Support your boys. Do you know how devastating it will be if England loses to the US this week?

The only reason Americans don't care about the World Cup is because we suck at it. If we had a chance at winning, everyone would be all over this shit.

I think Nascar is shoved down my throat. Every damn monday dick hicks has to talk about it in every other ticker. And it seems like the ticket runs adds for it costantly. I bet rich philips race week is second only to george dejohn in crappy ratings. I can still hear that toothless cousin fucker shout 'boogity boogity boogity'.

No, because it would still be soccer, and soccer is boring. I'll still watch the American team play though.

Soccer isn't that boring. I'd rather watch it than football or the NBA. At least soccer doesn't stop play every 5 seconds.

Baseball doesn't claim to be anything other than slow. I know what I'm getting when I watch it. The others claim to be all exciting and shit but they're constantly interrupting play because someone fell down or someone's ass got grabbed.

Item number two that beats me into little pieces:

The 0-0 tie. Really? That's like going out with a cute, loose girl, spending a bunch of money on a date, and you don't get any.

There was one of those today, France and Uruguay. Stupid sumbitches from France paid bazillions of Euros to see a fucking scoreless tie. It doesn't have to be 8-6 like indoor soccer, but can they at least score like hockey?

I guess not.

I'm listening to Junior give his thoughts on the USA v England match from Saturday and it made me want to post this hot sports regarding the World Cup:

Let me point out I'm not a Euro so soccer or futbol or whatever you want to call it has not been in my blood since birth. I love American football as well as all of the other sports our country has to offer.

I'm running out of shits to give for people like Jub and Junior who don't "get" it. It's not that fucking hard. If you just don't like it that's fine but using examples that its too slow (see MLB) or boring (see NFL: up the middle for no gain into a huge dogpile, to the right for no gain, to the left for no gain, punt or Nascar: continuous left turn yeah, that's real exciting) or no scoring (watching dudes skate around, turn the puck over, skate some more, turn it over again, skate some more and up 2-1 is not exactly high-scoring or riveting) are getting old.

I get that you don't like it. You've said so a number of times. THEN DON'T WATCH!! Just give us final scores and move on. No need to devote segments to why you don't like it. Soccer isn't a talking sport but then again neither is Nascar.

The American doing the color on the game is worse than Josh Lewin when it comes to objectivity.

True. I love it.

The officiating has been called into questions in several of the games. Add this one to the list, cos the motherfucking ref cost the US this game. Not only on the goal we scored and he took away, but we had a hella chance earlier on a corner kick and we had a guy called for a handball when it wasn't even close. Either the ref doesn't know how to actually officiate a game or the fix was in. I'm going with the latter.

Vive los Estados Unidos!!!!@@

http://deadspin.com/5567304/what-needs- ... to-advance

this should add to Hoob's world cup hate:

If the US draws, and Slovenia and England draw, it comes down to tiebreakers. Slovenia would win the group with 5, and England and America would be tied with 3. Here are the variables:

•The first tiebreaker is goal differential. The US and England would have tied all three matches, so we move on.

•The second tiebreaker is goals scored. After two games, the US has scored 3, while England has scored 1. That looks good for the US, as long as the England/Slovenia match isn't high-scoring. It's possible for England and Slovenia to finish 3-3, and the US/Algeria to finish 0-0. In that case England would move on. If England/Slovenia finished, say, 2-2 and the US plays a scoreless draw, we move on to the next tiebreaker.

•The third tiebreaker is points obtained in head-to-head matches. The US and England tied, so we move on.

•The fourth tiebreaker is goal differential in head-to-head matches. Again, a tie.

•The fifth tiebreaker is goals scored head-to-head. That's one apiece, so we move on.

If the US and England are still tied after all the tiebreakers, FIFA draws lots to determine who moves on. Yes, at the most important sporting event in the world, a coin will be flipped to decide the winner.

Of course, if FIFA would hire competent officials then all of this would be moot.

Each team should elect a player to bounce a ball off his head repeatedly until he screws up. Whichever team lasts longest wins immunity and moves on.
