Tony Kanaan has signed with a team, and GEICO is his sponsor.

There is a fag billboard on 360 featuring Miller Lite with a picture of a race car and some fag douchey kid and a big ass fag headline that says "HAVE AT IT, BRAD"

wtf is this Miller Lite's answer to Bud Light's "Here We Go!"? Because if it is it sucks. And gay.

Indycars start this weekend with a stupid street race in St. Petersburg. I HATE STREET RACES. Danica qualified 19th out of 25. Not good, little boobied driver.

My prediction is that Will Power will win. He's on the pole. Nobody can pass on this course and he will win.

What in the wild, wild world of sports is a-going on here.

A successful motorcycle racer, Bubba Stewart, was arrested for impersonating a police officer in Florida. Dumbass.

By the way, even though his nickname is Bubba, he is black. Very.

For what it's worth, he used blue lights on his vehicle to pull people over and got caught. If I was going to commit a crime, impersonating a police officer would be way down on the list.

I see that Will Power led every lap of a boring Indycar road race in Alabammy. Glad I missed this nonsense. Danica finished 17th. According to the article, it was impossible to pass on this track. You know what? If your track has "no passing zones," you shouldn't be racing there.

Indy bump day was today. Danica almost didn't make the race because of the rain. She did qualify but two of her teammates did not.

She drives for Michael Andretti, whose team is getting worse and worse.

Oh, and this was said to be one of the most exciting bump days in a long time. But I couldn't watch it. You know why?

Because it was on the stupid Versus Network, that's why. Versus isn't on my $71 Dishnet package.

Tonight was the Indycar race at Texas. They did an odd twin race setup. Dario won the first race, Will Power the second. I heard it was exciting. But it was on Versus.

I haven't been able to find out what the story is behind this pic, but Will Power had a very amusing way of showing his displeasure with the officials in a race today.

Post subject:  Re: racing series other than NASCAR-2010

Didn't see the race but I read that rain was a factor and they made the drivers race on the slick track when they didn't want to. Seriously.

Danica wiped out on the slick track and took out Power.

Brian Barnhart, the race director admitted he made a mistake in ordering them to restart the race.

Rain was a factor in many east coast sporting events on Sunday, raining out the Yankees, NASCAR, and the Phillies.

Good grief. I come home from work and ESPN is on. They are showing a big wreck between David Ragan and David Reutimann that happened at Watkins Glen today.

Apparently they are blaming Boris Said for this. Said was mad at Greg Biffle and had a bunch of funny stuff to say about him being scared. I think he called him a scaredy-cat for trying to hit Boris while he was still in his car, then hiding behind his crew afterward. He also said he was going to find the Biff later and beat him up. I laughed like a hyena when I saw Boris being interviewed. Again, the others are blaming Said.

Oh, and the lovable Aussie Marcus Ambrose finally won his first race. This makes me happy. G'day mate.

So is everyone only pissed at the officials for that race that Danica wiped out in? Is there any backlash against her? Seems like that would be a great opportunity to gripe about her driving.

I think she's received a pass from the drivers and the press because it was raining. I've only seen stuff written by random posters, mostly on removedanica.com.

What a shame about Dan Wheldon. I'm not the biggest Indy car fan in the world, but he always seemed like one of the good guys. It's amazing no one else was seriously injured.

I agree totally. It's horrible. Here's a guy who won the Indy 500 this year and then had a hard time finding anyone to give him a ride this season. It was only his third race of the year.

I refuse to watch video of it.

Tony Stewart started out in open wheel (back when he was my favorite driver) and won the series title in 1997. He defended the series after Wheldon's wreck:

"You hate it for everybody involved. Randy Bernard has been getting beat up over it, and he shouldn't. It's part of racing, its part of what can happen," Stewart said.

"It still boils down to the people that are steering the cars around. It's not that the cars are unsafe; there's still people that tell the cars where to go, so we've got to take responsibility.

There is no reason for anybody to point fault anywhere. There's no fault in it. It's racing. It's a freak thing that happened, and it can happen every race."

Wow, things are really in the crapper in Indycar.

Indianapolis starts with 33 cars. The problem is, only 34 have entered. There is the distinct possibility that they aren't going to have a full field.

They've changed to a different car this year and there aren't enough of them yet. It is my guess they are more expensive than the old ones, too. Things have gone back to the way they were when Tony George broke away from CART. Those were not the good old days for me.

Stay away from this race.

What a stupid, mis-managed mess the Indy 500 has become. Of all of the racing series, the American open-wheeled bunch is the worst. They ruined CART, and now the same crap is going to ruin IndyCar. No bump attempts even happened during qualifying because nobody could get an engine.

Jerry Grant died at the age of 77. None of you remember him because either, you don't like racing, or, you aren't as old as I am.

He was what we would call a "spare."

He was a road racer but is remembered for coming out of nowhere and nearly winning the 1972 Indy 500. He was DQ'd for pitting in the wrong pit stall near the end and the legendary Mark Donohue won the race. I remember this race well and can still remember commentator Jackie Stewart speculating that Grant was getting tired.

By the way, this race in 1972 marked the first time that Jim Neighbors sang "Back Home Again in Indiana" before the race, and it became a tradition.

Post subject:  Re: racing series other than NASCAR-2010

Wow. While looking at the Wikipedia page for the 1972 race, I found this gem about "Bump Day," the last day of qualifying:

As the action of the track was focusing on Cale Yarborough, Jim Hurtubise put his Miller Beer-sponsored car in the qualifying line shortly before the closing deadline of 6 p.m. The time expired before he got anywhere near the front of the line. He then removed the engine cover to reveal that the car had no engine, but instead five chilled cases of his sponsor's product, which he shared with the other pit crews and race officials.

Junior High Hoob did not know about this.

Austin hosted an F1 race this year, and it was supposedly successful. Next year's F1 schedule is out, and the race conflicts with a UT football game. Race organizers are asking for a redo.
