Here's one I didn't know about. On New Year's Day they have something called the Polar Bear 150 at Rockingham, N.C. and this is the second year of it:

Not sure why I put the URL there because nobody here cares, not even me. The high temp for the day was in the 40s.

I wonder what series is the worst? Being a dirty American I say it is Formala One. It has to be. Toyota, Honda, and BMW have all dropped out. The races have been dull forever. The series is having financial troubles. Oh, but Michael Shumacher is coming back! Things are looking up, right? Right?

No. No they aren't. I hope they fail. Take your stupid races in China, Malaysia, and Singapore and shove them.

Who knows, maybe someone will actually make an on-track pass for the lead this season.

Look at the link in the first post. They look like early-80s cars from Nascar. The second I had to explain that is when I realized how bad I suck.

Wow, this is a big deal. The Indy cars aren't racing at the Milwaukee Mile any more. Wisconsin Motor Sports conducted the race and they went out of business. NASCAR was gonna run Nationwide (minor league) race there but that fell through. That's ok. They can replace it with a stupid street race somewhere.

In other news, the Nationwide series will run at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on the Road America course. This course is highly thought of, so that's good. Elkhart Lake is where A.J. Foyt's brakes went out and he had a pretty bad wreck because of it. He injured his fat legs and fat feet. Too bad he didn't injure his fat head. A.J. was my favorite as a kid.

So, we start the IRL season with a stupid street race in Sao Paulo? Isn't this what brought down CART? I hate this stupid crap. Indy cars turn left. They don't race on streets. They don't race in Brazil.

Really, this is what brought down CART. Keep this crap up and someone will come up with a different competing series and the IRL will go down just like CART did.

Coming up next, another stupid street race in St. Petersburg. Zzzzzzzz.

I bet they can't go three wide on a street race.

A series I really hate is Formula One. My hatred for them was cemented in 2002 when Team Ferrari made Rubens Barrichello pull over for Michael Shumacher and let him win in Austria.

Few drivers win each season, even fewer than NASCAR or the IRL. Nobody passes anyone on the track.

And now, there are only two races in the western hemisphere. One in Canada (which nearly got pulled) and one in Brazil. That's it.

And I really don't know why I typed all of this.

I idly go to That's Racin' and learn that F1 is thinking about going to New York?

You stupid Yankees. Tell them to go race at Niger or someplace like that. Maybe the Cape of Good Hope needs a race. You don't.

Here's a story about F1 being afraid that the cars can't make it through a race without refueling. They changed the rules this year so that it is not allowed during a race. They suck so much.

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/racing/f1 ... id=5031301

Oh please, please, have a race where nobody finishes because of fuel problems.

Here's a stupid attempt to defend this boring sport by Shumacher:

"Formula One is not motorcycle racing, it's not basketball. Formula One has always had less overtaking. The excitement is still there for the fans."

This drives me crazy about F1 apologists. Just because you say there is excitement doesn't mean that there actually is any. Deep down, these people wish that some would actually HAPPEN during their stupid events. They watch the races while nibbling on their stupid cheese and hope that maybe someone will make a pass on the track, or as they would say, "overtaking."

Fuck them.

In Saturday's race in Australia, there actually was a pass on the track. It was for position, too. Amazing. If I had seen this occur live, I would have had the urge to pour myself a pint of some snobby beer and then jack off to a picture of the Queen of England.

Today was the F1 race in China. I think Jensen Button won.

The race was considered exciting because it had rubbin', passing, and wrecking. However, all of this happened because they had to race in the rain.

Screw all of that. If you have to have rain to make a race good, your series sucks. And trust me, this overpriced series sucks balls.

They interviewed some douche driver (Sebastian Vettel) who started on the pole but finished 6th and wouldn't comment on the race at all. He finally started protesting about being hounded. The reporter replied nicely that he was doing his job. The douche driver said something to the effect of it sucks to be you. I hate F1 drivers so much and hope this guy gets Earnhardted at the next race.

Hoob.

P.S. By "Earnhardted" I mean run into the wall at 180 mph like Dale Sr., not rear-ended like Dale Junior.

Open wheel in the US is so messed up.

http://www.thatsracin.com/2010/04/27/33 ... -road.html

To sum up the story, they are going to have a road course champion, an oval champion, and an overall champion. And they decided to do this 4 races into the current season.

Most open wheel fans blame Tony George, but I say it was screwed long before he got his dirty hands on it.

Isn't that like moving the goal posts after kickoff? But in all honesty, who cares? I know exactly no people who follow open wheel, here or overseas (where I guess it matters)

This was the weekend of the Grand Prix of Monaco. This race used to be a staple on ABC's Wide World of Sports. One time Jackie Stewart drove Jim McKay on the course in a passenger car, in the rain, scaring the everloving shit out of the poor guy.

Anyway, the race is even less exciting than more F1 races.

The two Red Bull cars finished 1-2. Red Bull also has two cars in NASCAR. There is no telling what they spend on auto racing. I'd guess $150 million annually.

The second rule of what red bull spends on racing is there is NO TELLING WHAT RED BULL SPENDS ON RACING.

Here's how to get your ass booed at Indy:

"I think it was absolutely awful. I wasn't flat the last two laps and I was scared to death flat the first two. And, it didn't get any better. I've never been bad here before. I've never been outside the top 10 on a finish or qualifying so, um, it's not my fault. This car is not good."

Danica Patrick said that in an interview that was broadcast over the P.A. after her qualifying attempt. The crowd booed her for saying "it's not my fault," which surprised the little princess.

I've never been a Danica hater, but I can learn.

Dario Franchitti has dominated the Indianapolis 500 so far. Can't believe I've made it through over half of the race and we haven't seen a shot of Ashley Judd.

I spoke too soon. We saw plenty of Ashley in the last 10 laps.

Lots of bitching about this Indy 500 being boring. You know what? I was sleepy as hell from last night's gig and I stayed with it the entire time. Just because nobody could touch the leader doesn't mean there wasn't racing elsewhere. ABC showed some of that. They also didn't waste too much time on Danica.

I wasn't pulling for Franchitti to win (I was hoping for Kanaan) but I still enjoyed the race.

Lots of empty seats. ABC accidentally showed an aerial shot of the grandstands that are behind the pits. They were maybe 1/3 full.

Hoob.

Nothing was said on TV about why the last-lap accident happened. I found it this morning. Many drivers in the field were going 20-30 mph slower than normal to avoid running out of gas.

But those who had stopped for fuel were going full bore. Mike Conway was one of those drivers, and he ran into someone going really slow. And that caused the wreck:

Ryan Briscoe won at Texas, but the dumbass media is talking about Danica finishing second. Her teammate, Tony Kanaan (who already was one of my faves) was mad about her nearly running him into the grass on the backstretch. He had this quote after the race:

"You may ask her, but like I said, what goes around comes around," Kanaan said. "When your best finish is a second place and you try to take it like a victory, that's what happens. I've won 13 races, I'm pretty confident in what I can do. You want to pull moves like that, that's fine. We have plenty of ovals left."

If you want your series to languish in obscurity, put it on the Versus network. The Indy Cars raced at Iowa over the weekend. Tony Kanaan won, and he's one of my faves.

But Versus is a premium channel on Dish now, so no Indy Cars for Hoob. I think Danica finished 10th.

Today the Indy Cars raced at Watkins Glen, one of my favorite tracks.

What a horrible race this was. Australian Will Power led all but 5 laps, and only 3 drivers led at all. I saw about a half dozen passes on the course. It's sad that NASCAR runs a better race here.

Looking at the list of 25 drivers for this race, there were 3 Americans: Marco Andretti, Danica Patrick, and Ryan Hunter-Reay. And don't give me the best drivers get the rides crap. That's a lie. Many of these rides are bought.

This is the exact same way that CART looked when Tony George blew it up. The series had Al Unser Jr., Andretti, Rahal, Vassar, and a bunch of foreigners. Jeff Gordon was tearin' it up in Sprint Cars and he couldn't get a ride in the minor leagues. I'd say that 99 percent of open wheel fans hate Tony George for what he did.

Not me.

NASCAR's main division is off this weekend, so the Indycars take the main stage with a damned street race. I really hate street racing, and Toronto is one of the worst. They've even found a way to kill a driver at this boring place, with Jeff Krosnoff pointlessly losing his life there in 1996.

Not watching.

The pointless ESPYs were the other night, and Danica Patrick was there with some wild-looking hair. Jenn Sterger from the Versus network had this tweet:

After viewing a certain woman’s red carpet pics, I know what happens next @ GoDaddy.com. It’s called a bukkake. Jeebus. Her stylist is fired

Hoob's comment: And Versus is showing the next 7 Indycar races. Hmmm.
